I recently purchased a new urban arrow FamilyNext. Recently, our seat and seatpost was stolen. I’m trying to determine if the anti-theft features were working as intended or if the seat post or bolt may have failed.

It’s my understanding that the seatpost was specially designed to be anti-theft, yet the thief stole the seat and seatpost while the bike was parked for a short time during the daytime in a highly visible area with regular security patrols. All our unsecured cargo was untouched, leading me to believe this was a crime of opportunity and it can’t have been very difficult to remove the seat and post. We live in an area where urban arrows are uncommon and bike theft is not particularly organized so the thief would not have had special knowledge or tools.

I tried looking up the anti-theft seatpost bolt system to understand what it is and how it works, but came up empty. How does it work? When functioning as intended, how easy is it to fully remove the seat and seatpost?

We’re a Canadian family of four with two adults, a 4 year old and a 1 year old. During a longer trip to Europe, we’re planning to spend 11 days in Greece. We have a flight to Chania booked on Oct 4 and a flight out of Athens booked on Oct 15.

I’m wondering how many days we should spend in Chania and how many days we should spend in Athens. We can leave Chania on either October 9 or October 11. This means we’ll either have 5 or 7 nights in Chania and 4 or 6 nights in Athens.

A bit of context:
- we’ve never been to Greece before
- we’ve never traveled internationally with both kids before. That said, we have traveled successfully with both kids domestically and we spent a month to in Europe with our older child when she was about the same age as her younger sister will be on this trip and had a great trip. We went to 7 cities in 4 countries over the course of a month and moved at what I would consider to be a moderate pace and saw much of what we would have seen before children, despite have a baby in tow.
- we like good food, exploring cities, hiking, and museums and historic sites. We’re not into nightlife, hanging around the hotel, or shopping. We’ve never tried a beach holiday, but it’s plan to spend a day at the beach with the kids this time.
- we don’t plan to bring car seats for the kids so we’ll be getting around by public transit. We’ll have a stroller and a baby carrier for the kids.
- we don’t mind walking and can easily cover 10-15 kms a day on foot.
- Greece is not our first destination so we shouldn’t be too jet lagged.
- we are not in a strict budget but we’d rather keep our spending moderate.

Bonus question: should we make Chania old town our home base for the full 5 (or 7) nights or should we split our time between Chania and another town?

We put a deposit down on an Urban Arrow Family Next Pro and are just waiting for it to be built. Then, we were out and saw a Fetch+ 4 on the street and looked into it. The Fetch+ 4 has many of the same features we’re looking for (Bosch motor, box to hold 2 or 3 kids, suspension, belt drive) and it’s way less expensive than the UA ($7k vs. $12k). It also has a couple of additional features that the UA lacks, including two built in, reclining toddler seats and a much bigger cargo area.

We are a family with two young children, 3.5y and 8m, with the possibility of one more in a couple of years. Two adults, one 5’4”/162cm and one 5’8”/172cm, both confident cyclists and around 150lbs/70kg. We live in a cold-ish Canadian city and hope to cycle year round down to about -10c/14f with a bit of snow on the ground. Average daily distances will probably be around 15-25km/10-15mi, about 70% on bike paths, 20% on protected cycleways and 10% on roads. We live in a valley and probably 60-70% of our trips are flat, with the rest having moderate hills. We already have a Benno Boost for the other parent to ride and to do solo adult rides. We have a detached garage to park in.

We have the budget for a UA but of course if we can save $5k, there are plenty of other things we could do with that money. We have both Trek and UA dealers nearby.

I don’t want to buy a (still very expensive) subpar bike and end up upgrading in a year or two. But I also don’t want to drop an extra $5k for no reason.

Based on the cursory research I’ve done so far, my main concern with the Trek is the weight. Is it harder to handle than the UA due to the weight? I’m not too concerned about the weight for service/breakdowns because we have a Trek dealer down the street but I’m concerned about handling for the rider, particularly in winter. What’s the handling like for small/medium sized riders?

My other concern is the ongoing maintenance since it looks like Trek might be discontinuing the Fetch+ 4. What’s the longevity like on a bike like this if the company stops making them?

And one question: the UA has a 545Wh battery and the Trek has a 750Wh battery. The Trek is a lot heavier so does this larger battery actually result in much more range?

We’re soon-to-owners of an urban arrow family next. We have a 7-month-old and a 3-year-old. We want to figure out the best option for our baby.

We’ve ruled out the car seat because the baby will outgrow that fairly soon and it’s quite expensive. We could either do the Thule Yepp adapter and a Yepp Mini or a Babboe or Melia seat. We’re in Canada and can easily get the Thule option whereas a Babboe or Melia is going to be trickier to access.

For context, our kids are both smallish (25th percentile) and don’t have an issue being close together right now. I am leaning towards the Thule option because it’s easy to get and the baby would be rear facing, which is safer and also might help with her separation anxiety. But I’m open to the Babboe or Melia being a better option. What would you do?

ETA: if we go with a toddler seat (Yepp/melia/babboe) we’d wait until the baby is at least 9 months old to ride with her.
