Need help with teaching timing.

I am currently coaching Juniors. In our fall league, 2/3 of the league is kids moving up from lower levels. Most of our travel ball kids stay away from rec so the league is pretty even. No blow out games, mostly 1-2 run wins/losses.

That being said, half of my team is struggling to get hits due to timing issues. They all have little hiccups in their swings but nothing major. The mound distance is a bit further but it is not like it is 10 feet. They are also mostly facing the same pitchers as they did in the spring due to everyone moving up.

I have kids who hit between .300-.500 last year who arent close to hit the ball. I have been through every drill I can think of and some I have looked at online. I am not looking to have a team of sluggers but no kid want to go through a whole season and not get a hit.

I am wondering if anyone has any tips to help these kids be more successful at the plate.

Favorite hitting drill

I'm coaching a 12-13 year old team with most the kids moving up from lower levels. Our biggest issue is of course hitting. I know I can't solve every kids issues and I'm not looking for a magical spell. I'm looking for a good drill or two to get some contact to build confidence.

2015 Chevy Sonic Touch Screen issue

Bought my son a 2015 Chevy Sonic. On the test drive we did NOT test the touch screen. I know that was our fault. We ordered an aftermarket one. First one worked for a few days and then went white. We got a replacement from the company and installed it. The new one works but has us back in the same position we were when we started. The touchscreen does not work. He does not see it as a huge deal because he has the backup camera and can use his phone to play music but I would like it working for him. Is there some sort of factory reset or unlock that needs to be done?

FIRST TIME ALL STAR MANAGER RANT

This is my first year managing an all star team. It has been BEYOND frustrating. My LL director has bascially taken a hands off approach. Originally we were suppossed to start on the 26th, that got moved up to the 22nd. I did not find this out until a parent saw a post and informed me. I sent an email to the director and asked if I missed a communication about the change, the response was "Oh they change things and expect us to notice." He then proceeded to not do any of the paperwork to get us registered until the Friday before the the first scheduled game. I find that odd but maybe it is usual.

Now to today. We were suppossed to have a double header today to decide the winner of our area. The league decided to cancel due to weather and an "umpire shortage." They have now moved the games to tomorrow and the second to later in the week. The issue is many of my families planned trips around the original schedule we were given. They are pushing us very close to the report date for State and in addition due to the change 2 out of 3 coaches cannot come to the second game and I am not sure half the team can make it.

Not looking for sympathy and I know some people will probably tell me this happens to them every year but know I am wondering if I was selected due to how well my team did during the season or if the other coaches didnt want to deal with the headache.

Holding runners on base *need advice**

My team has made our league championship at 13U. The team we are playing against takes very aggressive leads. I am talking like half way to third when on second. We have our final practice tonight. I have worked with the pitchers on pick offs and changing their timing to keep the runner guessing when they will throw. Any other suggestions to help keep runner on base or at least close.

Northern VA Salukis

I know this is gonna be a HUGE ask but does anyone in the NOVA area own a dog called a Saluki? I went to college where a Saluki was the mascot and so I name all the teams I coach the Salukis. Our baseball season will be wrapping up soon and would love to have the kids take a picture with an actual Saluki. I of course would be willing to pay for your time.
