How to raise the Utåker bed?

How to raise the Utåker bed?

Hello hackers!

We bought a set of the stackable Utåker beds for our small guest room. It fits the queen bed formation but we usually have it stacked up to save space. In the future we will also use it as kids’ low beds.

My parents are visiting in a few months to help with the birth of our first child, and they are at an age where the lower configuration (23cm high + mattress height) is a little hard to reach for their knees. They would prefer the bed to be at the height of the stacked formation (46cm high + mattress height).

Has anyone ever tried to build/buy wooden risers for these beds? Ideally we’d like to be able to temporarily raise the beds by 23-30cm. We would prefer not to get the ugly plastic bed risers since they seem a little unwieldy and I don’t think my parents would be comfortable with that.

Any tips or tricks appreciated!

What’s the Swedish equivalent of a ’notary public’?

Hej! Please forgive the post in English, I don’t want to risk getting some terms wrong in Swedish

I need to sign a Power of Attorney for my home country in the presence of a notary public. The document is in English. Does anyone know of what the Swedish equivalent is called so I can search for it?

It’s a little time sensitive so any advice is appreciated!

Babymoon in Gdansk, looking for recommendations in the tri-city area!

Dzień dobry!

My partner and I are headed to Gdansk for a babymoon (last trip as a couple before our first baby arrives) in late July - early August and are SUPER excited. Looking for recommendations for where to stay in the tri-city area! Our requirements/preferences are:

  1. Non-smoking place. I am super sensitive to smells, and have become even more so while pregnant.
  2. Quiet-ish area without clubbing noise into the night.
  3. Easy access to the train station, either walking or public transport. We would like to take day trips to Sopot and Gdynia and would prefer public transit. Also easy-ish access to the beach would be great!
  4. Access to a kitchen if possible. Who knows when/what the cravings will be then?
  5. Bookable directly (ie not via Booking.com or Airbnb.com), due to boycott reasons.

There is no fixed budget but we are not wealthy, so good value is preferable ❤️

Dziękuję bardzo!

Made my midwife cry

Almost 4.5 months pregnant and went in for a blood test yesterday. Normally these are traumatising enough as my veins are small and it takes a full team of professionals, 3 tries, and a virgin sacrifice to get one vial of blood for the test

After that ordeal, my midwife (who is so lovely and sweet and experienced) was expecting me to leave since it wasn’t a regular appointment, just a remedial blood test since last week they couldn’t get any blood out of me. Anyway, I decided to sit down and start sobbing instead, dry heaving and blabbering included

Apparently my AuDHD brain had been shutting out some severe anxieties I have about the pregnancy, birth, parenthood etc. There are family histories and childhood traumas that I somehow forgot were relevant to my pregnancy? 🙈 I had also forgot to mention the AuDHD in all our previous appointments, truly slipped my mind that she would want to know that

Anyway, so I cried and blabbered about my anxieties about being a terrible mother, that my baby would die, that I wouldn’t feel love for the baby etc. All things that have happened in my family history. And as I talked, she started crying too, and sharing her experience as a parent and even as a professional midwife. She then gave me some big hugs and looked into my eyes and reassured me that I have the opportunity to build a new kind of family, to be a new kind of mother.

She’s also referring me for extra checks, ultrasounds, anything to put my mind at ease. I’m so grateful for her 🥹 and for my wonderful husband who has held me and fed me and comforted me even though his autistic brain doesn’t understand all my emotions and hormones.

Anyway, food is Hongshao Rou, or red braised pork in English
