Results as a Kurd from eastern Malatya
Tribe: Canbeg
Welp.. I wonder why a Kurd from my tribe would score such high central Anatolian result (spoiler alert: my tribe got exiled here n there to central Anatolia so I assume AncestryDNA clustered up alot of Kurdish and Turkish references into this reference panel.)
I’m really dissapointed they couldn’t add Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Kurdish regions as we got many Kurdish references in modern age DNA database.
Not like it matters for me as I experiment with my DNA file so I already know what the best results are for me but imagine someone who doesn’t want to do analyzing their DNA file through different calculators, or someone who doesn’t have a clue how to interpret these results and think they might be Turkish instead…
It’s really confusing for Kurds and also for Turks and other groups who get hidden in these broad regions. So ancestryDNA could you actually add proper regions for these multi ethnic countries and not just add 1-2 and just leave (FYI; They added pontic Greek regional group, Assyrian, AND EVEN EASTERN ANATOLIAN ARMENIANS?!? So it deffo isn’t because “it’s similar dna component makes it harddd” if they could add all this…)
I think they’re just scared to add specific Kurdish region(s) due to a certain group(s) of people.. Like it’s so obvious cuz cmon.. NORTHERN IRAQ? And it shows the KRG region. Really dissapointed in this company that they catered to those people due to being scared of receiving hate.
