Ruins Of Trokair (X-Point Atlantic)

Ruins Of Trokair (X-Point Atlantic)

Edit - this is a WIP. I have not played it yet. All theory-crafting here.

With only one [[Strip Mine]], I like Trokair for its synergy with [[Land Tax]]. Also good to speed out [[Serra Angle]]. And if I'm casting [[Armageddon]], I may as well squeeze out the extra mana.

Obviously CIPT is a drawback though.

This is what I'm looking at building. I probs need to drop the Factories because of the point system:

Running Lotus because I don't have access to [[Mox Pearl]]. Don't ask!

Proxies?

I understand there are many events that allow proxies.

Are there any versions where proxies are not allowed, but Collector's Edition and/or 30th anniversary cards are welcomed?

In other words, is there any value to owning these? Or are they only playable at events where I could just as easily use a sharpie?

Mardu Metalcraft - Tempo or Midrange?

A note on terminology - tempo and midrange are both "aggro/control" hybrids. With tempo being more aggro leaning.

This is not about semantics though. It's about the game-plan and strategy. Specifically, I am wondering if Mardu is more aggressive than other popular midrange decks in the meta. eg, Grixis Affinity, Jund Wildfire, Gruul, Gates, *Boros* Synth, etc.

The low curve and high concentration of Bolts looks like it could play faster. But I do like understand these are also control cards. The Hawk/Skyfisher package looks build for durdling.

On the other hand, 12 low cost evasive beaters does help the aggro plan.

Thoughts? I have never played the deck myself; nor have I played against it

White Border Cards

With the announcement of Mystery Booster Commander edition, is anybody else excited for white-border prints?

Currently my Tron deck has 28 white borders in the 75, but I want more! Anything on my list (not currently available in WB) would be welcome.

What cards are you hoping will get the white border treatment?

Town Support Please!

Pauper is rich with archetypes built around a suite of lands:

- affinity & metalcraft decks are built around artifact lands

- tron decks are built around Urza's lands

- Poison Storm is built around depletion lands

Wouldn't it be fun to have decks built around the town subtype? It could be as simple as one good card that cares about towns. eg, nobody would play gates without [[Basilisk Gate]]. Nobody would play snow-covered lands without [[Skred]].

[[Adventurer's Inn]] *already* sees play...

Dear WotC - please provide town support at common. ☺️

Unwind in FlickerTron

FlickerTron players - how often do you actually use the infinite mana loop? Usually if I'm winning with [[Rolling Thunder]] or [[Kaevrek's Torch]] I don't mind taking two turns to do it - finite mana is usually enough.

Are there any games where this made the difference between winning right away vs losing the next turn? Are there any matches that specifically want this (besides Tribe, of course)?

I am thinking of switching it to the board and adding another [[Prohibit]] to the main. Thoughts?

My list for reference:

I Just Wanted To Add Skred To Gruul Ponza...

Not looking as clutch as it did before the ban! And there is probably a reasonable lists are eschewing removal altogether...

But I would like to make a list that is a little more control-ish and a little less "stompy". Maybe with >10 LD spells too.

Anybody running Ponza with Skred and/or more LD? I found this list. It's a bit old a could use refining (also 61 cards).

Flicker-Tron advice

I'm looking add a singleton [[Lightning Bolt]] somewhere in my 75. ⚡⚡⚡

Any advice what to cut? I'm think a Counterspell, or my second copy of either [[Heritage Reclamation]] or [[Stonehorn Dignitary]]. Any Tron players with an opinion for me?

My local meta is wide open and diverse. Haven't been out to play since before SkyBow.

Tech for Skybow?

Plenty of redundancy for the equipment, but not so many ways to find the Seeker. If you can fit a sac outlet into the deck, all the better!

It *could* fit in an Elf build, but personally Hoping wouldn't run it there. Better for more dedicated combo I think.
