Bird with messed up beak?? Or is that what they look like? [mojave desert, CA]

Just scanning through the birds that my bird feeder camera caught today and saw this little fella. Its beak looks mutated or broken but maybe that just what they look like? Idk thanks for any info!

Neighbor gave me cuts of this plant

She said they’ve had this plant for like 40 years and they don’t know what it is but I’d love to know how to take care of it! It’s absolutely huge, like 3 ft long 😂

What are these things all over my sunflowers? Mojave desert, CA

I’ve seen these all over my sunflowers and they keep coming back even after removing the leaves they’re all over.

And they’re ONLY on the sunflowers!! The flowers themselves are growing fine but the leaves die when they lay eggs (?) on them

Found her dead this morning. Don’t know what to do.

What do I do with a dead snake? This is the first time I’ve had this happen. She was my first snake.

I don’t know what happened. She was only like 8 years old. She ate a week ago like normal. I saw her yesterday morning peeking out of her hide.
It looked like she was just getting her shed off and just rolled over and died. She was a little twisted so maybe that could be something? But idk. She was partially upside down.

Just got a Babcock peach tree and need advice!

After doing a lot of research and talking with a local nursery, I purchased a Babcock Peach tree from them and I’m going to be moving it into a larger pot. It is currently in a 15 gallon.

My question is what soil should I use when I repot it? And do I need to add fertilizer to it?
(I did call the nursery to ask this, but the plant guy only works on Fridays and Saturdays🥴)

Pls help I think this lil one has a torn wing

Update I kept her in my greenhouse for a little while with the sugar water so she could rest for a little bit and get some nutrition in her out of the wind. And then I relocated her to our lilac bush in our front yard on a low covered branch 🫶🏻🫶🏻 I hope she doesn’t immediately get eaten🥴

I’m not sure if I should interfere at all or just let nature Tickets course but it looks like this little butterfly has a torn wing.

I placed it in my greenhouse with a cotton ball soaked in sugar water, but she definitely can’t fly very well, is there anything I can do??

Need advice on growing an orange tree

I live in the Mojave desert zone 8b and I don’t have any actual ground to plant anything on my property so I want something that can be grown in a pot, even if it has to move up to like a huge whiskey barrel pot that’s fine.

I was thinking Cara Cara, Valencia, or satsuma mandarin. I want something I know we will eat/use consistently. I can’t justify lemon or lime plants bc I don’t think I’d enjoy always having them lol

Does anyone have experience growing any varieties in pots successfully?

I’m at my wits end and I need advice from seasoned moms about reflux

Not sure if this is even the right sub for this question but *REFLUX* 😩😩 he’s 2 1/2 months old. This is my second child and I feel like I’m failing with this baby 😭

My son spits up ALL THE TIME. I need to know if anybody has some wild crazy thing that worked to help reduce the amount of spit up incidents. Like we go through like 5 onesies a day sometimes more and the laundry never stops. He’s EBF and gets bottles sometimes when we’re out or if dad wants to feed him. But he spits up SO MUCH. and it’s constant throughout the day not like only after feedings or anything. It’s all damn day.

I saw his dr yesterday and he basically said yeah it’s normal but said I have three options.

  1. elevate him after feeding (we’ve done that off and on and it doesn’t seem to change the outcome)
  2. break up his feedings I.e like give him 3 oz at a time (I’ve tried to do this when he has a bottle but it’s hard to do when he’s nursing, still doesn’t really help)
  3. *I have not done this one and genuinely I’m afraid to* he said if all else fails put a very small amount of rice cereal in his bottles every now and then to thicken the consistency like a teaspoon not a lot.

I honestly just want advice if anyone else has dealt with this and how they got through it and if it’s just like something we have to push through because it’s temporary or if there’s anything that can help.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE 😭🫶🏻

What happened to this grasshopper?

I found it dead in our grass, completely in tact but totally hollowed out!

Would this be caused by a parasite? Or is it a tarantula hawk situation? (Like laying eggs and it getting eaten from inside)

I thought it was a shed exoskeleton but I’m not sure.

Not too sure where to post this question but my son always requests pasta for breakfast and I want to create it for him.

He’s 2 and loves pasta obviously but every day I ask him what he wants for breakfast and he always says pasta. Is there any culture that does pasta breakfast dishes? I know some Asian dishes do rice for breakfast so I thought maybe there’s a pasta breakfast dish. Or maybe just an idea of how I can incorporate pasta and breakfast food 😂
