41 [F4F] Chicago/Online - Dorky working mom seeking friends… or more than :)

Currently only seeking cis women.
No Republicans or conservatives.

I have a 45 hour/week corporate job that’s work from home and takes a ton of my brain cells.

I have two kids in high school and elementary school so they take a lot of time too.

I currently have a real lack of women friends in my life. I had a lot of good girlfriends when we worked in the office, but since Covid i’ve realized we were only close because we were together every day and now that we’re not we aren’t.

I moved to the Chicago area to be with my husband 15 years ago and most of my friends from growing up are still in Michigan many of which have moved on with their lives in the 15 years. I’ve been out here so I feel a profound sense of loneliness.

His group of friends have adopted me, but I feel a calling to make a few more girlfriends that are my own.

If we happen to be a good romantic/physical connection to, that’s cool, but I’m really out here looking for emotional companionship.

I like:

- Shows: I watch a ton of YouTube, I love Minecraft Youtubers a big hermitcraft girly. I love watching football and any show produced by Mike Schur (Office, Parks and Rec, Good Place, Brooklyn 99 etc).

- Books: I love dungeon crawler Carl and I used to love a song of ice and fire before the show ruined it and Martin stopped writing it, and I used to love Harry Potter before Rowling turned into a monster.

- Games: I play a lot of Stardew and Minecraft. I used to play DND when I was in college and I miss that so if you have an extroverted group of queer DND friends that I could be swept into that would be fantastic. Just know you’re gonna have to teach me everything again cause it’s been 20 years and three edition since then.

If you think we might have things in common, send me a DM!

Shot 11: Celebrating 20lbs Lost!

The Good:
The way that this drug controls food noise is a freaking miracle. I’m also in therapy for Binge Eating Disorder hand-in-hand with this medication and it’s saving my life. I’m 40 now, I can’t handle another yo-yo, I need real permanent change.

The Bad:
Moving up to 5mg has been a bit of a rough road. I threw up after eating some pizza, even though I didn’t overeat; and I’m having more nausea when I spaced my meals out too much. But I’ll get through it, it’s nothing like what old compound Semelglutide used to do to me.

We got this! ❤️💪

Current Breakfast Obsession: Chia Seed Pudding

38g of protein 7g of fiber (Metamucil in the coffee, doing a big lift there).

Chia seed pudding: 7 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, a can of light coconut milk, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 6 tbsp sugar-free maple syrup. Let it soak overnight, but shake it a few times before bed.

I kinda eyeball it now I make it so much, and just scoop with the biggest spoon in my drawer instead of measuring and call it close enough.

Chicken Caesar Wrap: 37g Protein, 36g Fiber, 275 Calories

I’m obsessed with this wrap for lunch. Macros are amazing for the calories. These mission tortillas are a fiber hack.

It’s just 4 ounces of cooked boneless skinless chicken, a cup and a half of Dole’s tricolor coleslaw mix, and 4 tablespoons of the skinny girl Caesar dressing

Filling for under 300 calories ❤️😊

Shot 7 Today: Down 15lbs in 6 weeks

Finally feeling the food noise creep back, so I’ll be bumping up to 5 mg for month 3.

I’ve been adding habits slowly. First I started tracking calories again in MFP. Then I got back on top of my meal prep. Now I’m trying hard to not only hit calorie goals but protein and fiber goals as well.

I added more movement over the last two weeks, pushing toward 10k steps every day (I’m at like 4/7 days now) and really trying to motivate myself to lift, because I know it makes a big difference. I only lifted once this week but I’ll get it going again soon.

I’ve gotta build on the habits as I find the energy, stack them on existing ones, and forgive myself for not being perfect. Progress is the goal, not perfection. And I’m making good progress.

Shot 5 Today: 11.8lbs down

Staying at 2.5 for another month despite the slight hiccup last week. I had a work conference and drank alcohol for the first time in about a year, and my body decided to hang onto every ounce of water as a result.

This week I really locked in, tracking everything I ate in MyFitnessPal, and hitting my calorie and macro goals (or getting very close to them) every day.

I’ve been slowly changing my shot day over the last couple of weeks as well. I had been doing Monday (cause I always start everything on Monday), but I decided I really need the shot to be strongest over the weekend (when the junk food happens lol). So last week I moved it up to Sunday and this week I did it on Saturday and next week, I’ll do it on Friday and that’s probably where I’ll stay.

I’ve got upcoming vacation to Vegas in October. I’m so glad I started now. We also have a major family vacation to Turks and Caicos next summer and so I’m trying hard to push for a healthy body I feel comfortable in on the beach.

I can’t see a time in my life where I stop taking this medicine.

Injection 3 | 10 lbs lost in 2 weeks

SW: 195 lbs
CW: 184.6 lbs
GW: 140 lbs

This week was a real test, we took a family trip to the Grand Canyon. This trip has been on my bucket list for years. I highly recommend anyone with the means to see the canyon at least once; it is absolutely breathtaking in person.

But let me tell you: airports, McDonald’s, snack food, restaurants, ice cream … there’s not a bigger set of temptations on the planet to me than family vacation.

And I ate! I just stopped eating when I was full, EVERY time, because I was terrified if I ate until “stuffed” I’d puke and ruin everything.

We got home Monday and I took shot 3. Two weeks down, including a vacation, without calorie counting for 4/7 days: Y’all… I lost another 5 lbs, bringing my two week total to 10 lbs lost.

I understand that much of this is water weight… but scale aside, the way this drug normalizes my consumption feels like a miracle.

Injection 2 | 5lbs lost Week 1

This medicine is amazing. I understand that some of this loss is water weight and not fat, but who cares about the scale… I’m not binging!

Holy shit. I still think about food, but now, it doesn’t sound good right away?!

Like, is this how normal people feel between meals? People just walk around satiated? Content? Not planning their next treat to get through their pain or struggles?

Shit dude. This is wild.

Before Photo: First injection week

Without medicine my whole life is just me gaining the weight back again. And here I am again… I Gained weight back again.

I’m back to 195 lbs again at 5’4. Back on blood pressure meds I worked so hard to get off. All I do is yoyo and it’s crushing my body. I’ve lost and gained the same 30-50 lbs my entire 20’s and 30’s and I’m so tired of fighting binge eating I can’t do it for my whole 40’s too.

My high weight was 280 years ago, but I feel like it’s a magnet I’m pulled towards constantly. Like anytime I get down to 150ish, a string pulls me back towards 200.

So got on Ro and ordered Zep in hopes to stop the crashout. I’m Really hoping this can help me win the battle of emotional and binge eating, because that demon is crushing me.

Tell me your tips and suggestions for overcoming a lifetime of binge and restrict ❤️

I went back and re-listened to the chapter titled Volteeg; and I think it’s such a beautiful, standalone short story. It’s probably my favorite piece of fiction at the moment.

Every once in a while, Matt Dinniman does this thing where he pulls me in emotionally and completely. And this chapter feels like one of his best flexes as an author

Things Matt Dinniman does that I love in this chapter:

- The easy parallels from Volteeg to our main characters, make me feel instant empathy, and emotional connection

- How his life after the crawl illustrates the difference between “surviving” and “living”

- The horrible combo of joy and sadness at his death

He does it again a few chapters later with Milk, which also broke me.

Am I just a sucker for found family or is this actually pretty exceptional writing in these chapters here?
