I won't upgrade for a very long time. After a whole day or two of having it, here's my very casual review of the Hiby M500:

Battery Life

- Great. I can't complain. Mainly using Bluetooth Headphones the entire day of having it so wireless helps a lot with the battery. It's my main preference in listening as well lately. It's just convenient.

Build Quality/Design

- It's definitely made of plastic. But it feels solid. I like the whole cassette-esque vibe. The volume wheel feels better than my previous Shanling M3X DAP years ago. The back of the device is a matte-ish glass with the Hatsune Miku thingy.

My only cons:

- Camera

- Internal speakers

They shouldn't have bothered or at least made a version without it to make it cheaper.

I will not comment on the audio since it's kinda moot with me running BT and using EQ. Even my phone sounds good with the same setup. I only got a DAP because I got tired with my phone not being able to house all of the music in my library.

Anyway, long story short. I ended up researching and actually buying this in a more reputable store in Shopee in my country instead of the FiiO M21 after watching videos in YT (Z Reviews raves about this thing).

And well, I guess it was meant to be that I didn't end up with the FiiO M21. This thing is a looker.. I just got it but everything is solid so far. I'm not technical or anything, I just love listening to music. I have several bluetooth headsets from Sony, Soundcore, JBL, etc and an IEM from Moondrop (Kato). For me, having a dedicated DAP if you have the means is better than using your phone.

I hate music streaming. I'd rather listen to my offline files. Also to my surprise, I didn't have to format my 1 TB SD card that was formatted as NTFS so everything was plug and play. I was dreading having to back up my music files in my laptop and transferring them back to the SD.

I might be late or I probably haven't played that long but I decided to reinstall to complete this again on the Xbox Ally X and it no longer crashes so far! If you were having crashes several months ago and had to put it down because of it, you might want to reinstall and check it out.
