I am in the market for a phone that has long-term software support as well as performance that can be used for many years to come. I am open to tweaking it to debloat and improve it or downloading a custom rom when it stops getting support.

I need a phone that runs WhatsApp and plays music. I dont want a hybrid phone/ phone w/ T9 keyboard cuz i dont wanna get funny looks. i dont care about the age; i just want a phone that can do basic tasks (no gaming). my budget is 250 at most. i dont need security updates but prefer to have custom rom support and a big community for the phone. i want a phone that can last with 3-5 hours of screen time per day.
