First pet jumping spider!

Meet my baby draculaura!

My first lil jumping spider, a regal apalachicola, molted a week ago, based on what I was told she should be i7 now 🥹

Sweetest little bug I own, I’ve loved getting to know her!

Only thing I’m struggling with since getting her is what size feeders she should be on, the seller gave me melanogaster fruit flies but those seemed far too small so I moved her up to hydei, but if they are supposed to have prey more equal in size to their body, she’s more on par with bottle flies 😬 I’m a lil bit lost!

Maserati is officially a big boy

I can’t believe since getting him in March he’s now officially an adult 🥺 he’ll always be my teeny little guy, I’m so proud of him! My first ever mantis and he taught me everything I know and was there for me every step of this part of my life 🖤
Cheeky baby picture at the end to show how far he’s come, my big handsome guy!

Someone give this dude a modelling contract

He’s my fav to take pictures of, I feel like his colours are just so deep and nice 😌 I’m quite proud of how far I’ve gotten with him as my first mantis!

Post Molt Snackin’

Little miss Lumi had her first molt with me a couple days ago, she’s now freshly fed and feisty 😌 I think she’s i4 now but she looks so teeny tiny still!

Teeny little Yunnan Flower Mantis

Just received this baby! I’m new to the species, but based on the photos I’m assuming they’re decently full and won’t need fed just yet? She’s quite a spicy little thing!

Investigator Maserati

He’s became very intrigued by outside time his past couple of molts! Which is quite fun for me 😌

Spiny flower mantis humidity

I’m preparing to get my second mantis and hoping to secure a spiny flower mantis. I’ve gotten a heat cable to help with its preferred temps and cut out and meshed over some ventilation panels in a deli cup enclosure as that seems like the general guidance for lower instars but looking for experienced advice on humidity?

I’ve read about 4-5 care sheets from different places for a general guideline however they all have differing advice from stating 60-70% humidity to 40-50% as they are too prone to infection to withstand higher humidities.
Does anyone have anything more exact for me to work with? I’m assuming about 40-60%, leaning into the 60s for molting but no higher to prevent infection or spread of fungi, and using minimal substrate?

Mr Maserati + my newest tattoo!

I can’t believe how big my little guy has gotten, and how dark (he used to be yellowy/orange)! He’s been thriving, currently brewing up some blue bottles since he’s now big enough to tackle one.
He’s my first mantis and he’s been such an experience I decided to get a little ghost mantis tattoo in his honour!

His next molt should be to sub adult in about a week or so, but knowing him he’ll make me wait in anticipation for it 🤣

Romantasy recs for the coming months!

Hey guys, I’m looking for some good recs to get into following a heavy series, I was in a slump for ages so I feel like I’ve got a completely empty tbr :(

Romantasy books I’ve like -
- i’ve liked most of SJMs like ACOTAR and TOG, but utterly despised Crescent Cities, don’t know if it was just too different?
- Really enjoyed Fourth Wing
- Cruel Prince
- When the moon hatched
- early Zodiac Academy

I’ve really disliked things like Powerless and most YA books that have a more teenage approach to romance :/

I also am looking for books where the main love interest isn’t always obvious, the mc has potentially more than one, and can get quite into a politically world heavy plot

I despise pregnancy tropes so that’s a no no

If anyone knows anything that sounds up my alley that would be so great!! :) I’m so sorry if this post comes out super ugly I’m on my phone lol
