BS Chemistry in Pakistan: What Can You Actually Do With Just a Bachelor’s?

What is the scope of a Bachelor’s in Chemistry in Pakistan?

I’m considering doing a BS in Chemistry and wanted to understand the career prospects in Pakistan.

What kind of jobs can someone realistically get with just a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry? For example, are there opportunities in pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, laboratories, quality control, research, teaching, etc.?

Also, how important is it to specialize further after a BS Chemistry (e.g., MS/MPhil in a specific field)? Is a bachelor’s degree alone enough to build a decent career, or is further education generally necessary?

For comparison, fields like Computer Science have a very broad job market immediately after a bachelor’s. How does Chemistry compare in terms of job opportunities, salary potential, and long-term career growth?

And for those who chose Chemistry or Physics as their bachelor’s instead of a more directly specialized degree, what made you choose it, and what career path did you eventually take?

Would really appreciate insights from people who have studied Chemistry or currently work in the field in Pakistan.

Need advice

So I have two questions regarding COMSATS. First, between the Islamabad and Lahore campuses, which would be better for studying Chemistry or Chemical Engineering? Second, I noticed that Chemical Engineering, which is my preferred major, is not offered in the Spring 2027 intake, while Chemistry is available. Would it be possible for me to enroll in Chemistry for the first semester and then transfer to Chemical Engineering in the following semester, with relevant credits transferred based on equivalent courses and my A-Level grades? Would you recommend that I visit the admissions office and discuss this possibility with them directly?

Also how good is comsats’s chem engineering/chem department.

Any answers would be appreciated!

Honest Opinion

Guys, i am planning to apply to Umt for fall 2026, and my interest lies in chemistry, don’t yet know where specifically.

I need seniors, alumnis, current students and education experts to guide me how is the chemistry program at umt. They also have chemical with specialistion in ai.

How is the course curriculum, how is the faculty, research and internship opportunities, and how good is the job placement for a umt degree in Pakistan. Also tell about international recognition and postgrad placement.

Like i need an in depth review of the department, so i can decide if it’s worth joining or should i just wait for Comsats spring admissions and in the meantime focus on my us visa application.

TIA!

Looking for university recommendations in Pakistan

I’m currently deciding between Computer Science or Chemistry/chemistry related program for my undergraduate degree, and I’m looking for universities that are genuinely good in either/both fields, especially in terms of faculty, research, internships, job prospects, and overall student experience. Right now I have \*
Quaid-i-Azam University Bahria University, UMT, and NIT on my list because their applications are currently open, and I need to apply this fall. If you know of any other good universities whose applications are still open, I’d really appreciate the suggestions. Otherwise, I’d love to hear your opinions on these options, especially from current students or alumni.

Self support app?

Hello people, I was going through QAU’s website and I got to know that their application is still open but for self support application. I do not get like what are the differences between self support and regular application. Like i know the classes for self support will be held in evening, the fee will be slightly more, no scholarships are available, no hostels are available. These are not my concerns, I want to know is that going to be changed academically as well; like different professors, different course curriculum ? Can anyone guide me in detail? And also what exactly is the schedule for evening classes.

TIA

What is wrong with them

Has anyone here applied for an emergency visa appointment but ended up not using it?

I wanted to ask whether, after your emergency appointment eligibility expired or was no longer needed, your visa portal automatically changed back to the normal scheduling portal, or did it stay in emergency mode?

In my case, it has not changed back. I contacted the U.S. Embassy, and they told me that if I want my portal to return to normal, my current appointment will have to be canceled.

I’m confused about what this means. If my current appointment is canceled, will I have to pay the visa fee again and book a new appointment? Has anyone experienced the same issue? Is there any way to switch the portal back to normal without canceling the current appointment?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks

Serious matter

Got accepted into lums sse, however can’t attend because of fees.

So we were applying for aid at first, but my dad, who thought he will be able to manage the finances after receiving the payment from his part of the inherited land, asked me to withdraw the application. And i did without even submitting it.

Now that thing’s not working, delays and all those legal paperworks bla bla, and yeah am not able to go asw.
My deadline has already passed.

Is there any possibility of appealing lums to lemme apply for finaid again? I saw one guy withdrawing his finaid application after submitting so can it not work like the waiting list thingy ?

Which campus of bahria university is better if am planning to do CS. And Not only this, how is the Cs degree of Bahria university as compared to other universities. And finally, just to confirm, we can get exempted from its test by giving the SAT?
