Jim as a kid
The scenes of Jim as a kid are some of my favorite in the book. I don’t know what the general consensus is on those scenes. Do other people enjoy them as much?

A lot of the book is Wallace expressing ideas, and there’s not a ton to visualize for a decent number of sections. What are your favorite scenes that make for great visuals? Mine is definitely the opening scene.
I found a used copy of Gone Bamboo in great condition at Half Price Books for $5.99 and saw it was signed. Is it a legit signature? I doubt they would sell it for only $5.99 unless the signature didn’t enhance the value at all, or maybe they just completely missed that it was signed. Is the signature legit, and if it is, how much do you think the book would be worth? I don’t want to sell it, but if I ever found myself in dire need of some extra money, I might consider it.
Anyone know where he gets them/what style they are? When he wears them around his wrist, they look pretty big, but when he wears them on his head, I don’t see any excess hanging down like Rambo. I don’t know too much about headwear. Does anyone know the specific style/how he wears them?
From what I’ve read, they’ve never actually shot anything on film, but the way they emulate it is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Does anyone know how they get their stuff to look like it was actually shot on film and not just emulating the look? I’m specifically talking about the opening of “The Buffet,” the opening credits to NTBTSTM, and Operation Avalanche.
Especially in The Blind Side. If it’s a real hospital and people don’t know they’re filming, then how do they even get Matt into the hospital if he’s not actually injured/blind. Also, the whole The Boy episode baffles me every time, too. Does anyone have any bts information?
