Took the Geely EX2 for a blast in Australia. To save you a click, starts at $33k for 252 km (WLTP). Suspension is great and has more storage than most of its size, but 0-100 is 11 sec in the top-spec one, plus it's not the fastest charging car (max 80 kW DC). OTA updates & data included though.
Oops. Our bus got stuck. Then the bus behind tried to get around us and promptly got stuck too. If nothing else, seeing professional drivers cock up like this is really helping with my imposter syndrome. 😅
Apologies for the Facebook link but NZ now has 400 kW rapid charging. The charging curve is flat, as in maxxed out. Pretty neat. Charges fast, as you'd expect.
Holy Russets. 😲 This is the view from my hotel room! This small town boy is getting pampered. Something tells me the next couple of days are going to be interesting. Can't wait to see what I'll be driving.
Another day, another flight to a mystery location. This one's supposed to be like nothing I've ever experienced though. Let's see where we end up and what we end up driving. 😁
Just unearthed this clip from when we strengthened the frame on the Allegro before installing the Nissan Leaf motor. Needed a lot of support because these old British Leyland cars have the the structural rigidity of a Longbridge cobweb. Also, check out the Riddara vs Hilux EV swamp test if you can.
Japan vs China: I put the new electric Toyota Hilux up against this electric ute from China to see which is the superior farm vehicle. But... who will win? Only one way to find out... Grab your cop porn! 🍿
The heavy exhale after getting your electric ute stuck... again. 😆
Hilux vs Riddara video is almost done. It'll be ready this weekend and I'm really thrilled with how it's looking so far. Bloody good fun. Now I can do all the goofy stuff I wasn't allowed to with my former employer.
The secret's out: the Germans just surprised the Chinese with this one. 805km on a charge and a feel that sets a new benchmark for EVs. The downside is that this BMW makes everything I've driven since feel agricultural. It's hard to explain, you have to watch the video.
China vs Japan: I'm putting the new electric Toyota Hilux up against the new electric Riddara RD6 from China to find out which is the better farm vehicle. This should be a fun video.
Crikey it actually worked! Just cooked a potato casserole in the electric Toyota Hilux during a road trip and it's freaking delicious. The oven dinged just as I arrived to the rapid charger. Why aren't we all doing this??!!
Taking Toyota's new electric Hilux on a road trip today. It's going to take a few hours so I might as well cook a casserole using the onboard mains power while driving. As you do.
