Sony D21 or Sennheiser EW-DP?

Hey guys,

I run a small video production company, and we're looking to upgrade our wireless mic set.

Currently we have a Sony FS7, soon to be upgraded to a Sony FX5. Maybe also the next Sony FX6 Mk2 camera if/when it's announced. The mic pack usually to into the camera rather than via dedicated field mixer.

Anyway, we currently have 1 x Sony D11, but wanted to get a second mic pack. Currently, our setup is mainly for corporate and sometimes events. We do a lot of interviews, mostly 1 person, but sometimes two people.

I've recently received a sizeable grant, so was considering just upgrading to 2 x Sony D21 and selling the old D11. I'm not worried about having two receivers as I'll just modify the camera cage to carry two receivers and input via XLR.

There are a few options available at the moment – Deity Theos, Sony D21, and Sennheiser EW-DP.

I was originally leaning towards the THEOS, but I've seen some concerns over the build quality and customer service. Sony is a solid choice, but I've also heard a lot of support for Sennheiser for obvious reasons.

I can't see any real comparisons between them, so wondered what your thoughts were.

Advice would be super appreciated.

Listings removed because of "policy violation" – except no violation...

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice on a frustrating dashboard loop I'm stuck in. I have two listing on ebay and, as of last night, my payouts are currently on hold due to a tracking restriction that doesn't actually seem to exist.

My main dashboard is showing a red Account issues alert telling me to "Complete order tracking info." I've had the listing up for 3 weeks under ebay's simple delivery (it's the only option?), which always has tracking information etc. However, when I open the issue details, the system completely contradicts itself:

  • It confirms I have 0 orders without tracking.
  • It confirms I have 17 orders with tracking attached.
  • The popup explicitly states: "Thanks, no new restrictions will apply from this issue. Any existing account restrictions may take up to 5 days after delivery of these orders to lift."

Every single one of these 17 orders was dispatched via Evri or Royal Mail, and they have all been physically scanned as delivered. Despite everything being delivered, the restriction banner won't clear.

Additionally, right below this on the dashboard, it shows Listing issues (2) flagged with a "Policy" tag next to my two adapter listings. But when I click "View details," it takes me straight to the Resolution Hub, which just says "Nothing to see here!" I haven't changed anything on these listings recently, and there are no open cases against me.

I've tried getting in touch with customer support, but it's pretty impossible to achieve. Right now, every time I click on speak to an agent, it says "Something went wrong. Please try again later. You can also get more info searching online help, or you can contact an agent."

3D Scanning – No idea where to start...

Hey guys,

I'm in the market to purchase a 3D scanner. I've been doing a lot of CAD recently, and looking to take the next step.

I've seen lots of posts about it over the past couple of years, but it's quite overwhelming dealing with the various brands, and models that exist in the market at the moment.

Firstly, the premise of the purchase is to scan relatively complex geometries that my calipers won't be great at – things like unusual shapes, or replacement parts for both small and medium sizes (e.g. cavity hole with a few copper pipes that could do with a plastic insert rather than plastering).

I've had a look online, and Creality seems to resonate with me (though feedback is mixed?), but I know other brands like Revopoint exist. Then you have different price brackets like the Otter or Raptor/Raptor X. I'm usually one for going for the best product on the market because I don't like compromise, but equally I appreciate that I'd rather not spend £1,300 on a 3D scanner that a £600 one can do equally well.

My biggest concern is buying something that I think might do the job, but it then being unfit for purpose, with me being stuck out-of-pocket. Especially as 3D printing is a new endeavour, and don't want to get stung with any obvious pitfalls.

In addition, I'm conscious that certain products on the market have been out for a couple of years, and likely due for a refresh. I don't like the idea of buying something that becomes obsolete in less than a year.

I don't have a budget per se, but willing to pay for what feels right for me.

Any help would be appreciated!

Wanted a fly screen for our window, so I printed one.

It's been my first big project having recently jumped into 3D printing with my X2D.

Firstly printed a larger cover using plastic dowels, but I wasn't happy with the joins feeling a bit flimsy. Upgraded the second version with filler rods and it's working great.
