Parent lost job 1 day after QuestBridge deadline

I'm a senior applying to colleges this fall, and my family's sole breadwinner lost their job of 30+ years on October 2nd.

I would say that I am a qualified applicant, and I plan to apply to top schools as well as state flagships. I understand that top schools are very generous with financial aid, but I am also wondering if there are any programs or scholarships similar to QuestBridge that I could apply to as a current senior?

Some additional context:

  1. Very STEM-focused profile w/ 1590 SAT, multiple international-level distinctions.
  2. First-gen
  3. South Asian Male
  4. Plan to dual major in CS / AI and Political Science if possible.
  5. Family income was over $100k before the job loss
  6. I qualified for National Merit Semis, so if worst comes to worst I can still attend local schools on full-ride.
  7. No idea if/when the sole breadwinner will find another job. Worst case is they move abroad while I continue to study in the USA. I am a U.S. citizen.

Also, for top colleges (Stanford, Princeton, Yale, etc.), will the fact that nobody in my family is employed impact admissions chances at all, whether that be positive or negative?

Would really appreciate any advice and perspectives on this.

how do i prove my ECs weren’t nepo?

basically the title.

i have a couple ECs which I worked really hard for and had pretty big impact with, but im afraid that AOs will lump me in as being “nepo”. what’s the best way to disassociate myself from this stigma and prove (or atleast showcase) i did things on my own?

sorry for being vague but id prefer to keep my identity hidden

for context im fully first gen both my parents went to middle school

I am on Windows 11. I got an error along the lines of “This device cannnot be used on test day”.

Does anybody know why this might happen? My computer is old and a little crappy, but I’ve taken other exams and practice Bluebook exams just fine. I was able to check in and test it the day before the exam just fine too.

I will probably try again in June, but really disheartening to see that I couldn’t take it this month for no clear reason
