That's interesting - I'm with OPSEU and have been approved for Zepbound. Is the Union working with accurate information here?

I had to get prior authorization but the criteria was a 30+ BMIs or a marginally problematic BMI with comorbidities. If my BMI was normal, than I wouldn't be approved. Same criteria for all GLPs for weight management.

If I only had diabetes, then they'd look at Wegovy or Mounjaro, which would have the weight-loss side effect.

Took a look at my local's demand set poll.

Nothing about job security.

Nothing about specific language re: AI job displacement.

Nothing about the ongoing mission of replacing FTE positions with temp/contract positions.

I took my second dose of 2.5. was worried it wasn't working. Got through post injection day 2 which was very active and realized I'd barely eaten - I wasn't hungry and my energy is 👍.

Wow, just wow. Made sure to get minimum calories in before bed. I wasn't really a big eater before but now I understand why ppl lose too fast on this stuff and have issues getting adequate nutrition. Mental note to plan and track no matter what.

Obviously the timing isn't great but generally what happens with pension, seniority and union membership if you move to the BPS?

Can you do secondments in the BPS?

If you'd like to job share will the Union or MGT help you to find someone? Or do you have to find someone yourself?

I was going to avoid it and try the usual diet/exercise method. But then I rethought it because I'm borderline for insurance approval.

Thought to myself - so I manage to lose 10 lbs on my own and can't get insurance coverage - then the weight-loss plateaus because I'm insulin resistant as fck and I have to workout like a maniac just to maintain (welcome back bursitis!).

Seemed like maybe I should give it a try. I don't get food noise, thankfully but the family history for cardiovascular disease and kidney problems is strong.

Anyone like me in here? How did it go for you?

So I would love to hear the insider take on why the Province is taking over the Boards of Education in Ontario.

I've heard a rumour going around that it's a move towards eventual privatization. That honourary degree that Ford received from a U.S. college? That's a courtship (the company hoping to get the contracts for privatized Ontario schooling).

I think we all went quiet white we adjusted to new realities but maybe this reminiscing will get us fired up again.

OPSEU is still bargaining - so how hard are we willing to fight? Is there anything we're willing to trade on?

Frankly they can take my health spending account + a few vacation days in exchange for a permanent hybrid work arrangement.

For someone who goes into work 5 days a week, I'm in a good space.

Co-Pilot (at work btw) just informed me that there was no escalation of U.S. hostilities against Venezuela nor capture and arrest of Nicholas Maduro.

So, our pensions are designed to work in conjunction with the CPP payouts at retirement. Now that the Federal Government has incentivized us to take CPP at a later stage (it's not a small amount btw) - how does that impact our pensions?

Will we be getting significantly less from OPTrust or PSPP and more from CPP?

Also, our pension estimators don't show us these scenarios.
