I went on a walk today in middle TN and almost stepped on this guy. I believe it’s a trapdoor spider but I’ve honestly never seen one in person. If anyone happens to know a more specific ID that would be neat!
I’m equally amazed and terrified by them. It’s my first seeing one in person. I was so excited!
They were rather unhappy that I spotted them lol
I was hanging out on the back deck the other day and noticed this rat snake starting to climb the tree. I knew they were good climbers, I just didn’t realize they were THAT good. They went straight up it like it was nothing. They checked almost every branch on the way up, I’m assuming for bird nests. I lost them after the last picture. No idea how far they kept going…

I was out looking for slugs and came across this guy. Took me forever to figure out what he was doing. I didn’t know I was interested in watching snails but apparently I am because I sat there for a good twenty minutes lmao
