Courier bags - Dublin

Hi folks

Any idea where to buy some courier bags in person in Dublin today - just to send dresses so don't want them to be big & the post office sells those massive 6euro prepaid ones.

Have a pack arriving from amazon tonight, but one person would like their item posted today if possible so trying to buy one and get it sent today.

Edit : thanks everyone I got sorted in the post office today as a once off - and I got a pack for good value of Amazon arriving which will be super handy to have at home. Was a tenner for like 5 or something!

Thanks 🙏🙏

Train for Fleadh - Dublin to Belfast

Has anyone got the train to Belfast this week who didn't have it booked in advance?

Saturdays are all booked out online, trying to gauge what it would be like getting a seat if I bought a ticket at Connolly in person. Planning 11am train. Am pregnant so don't fancy standing whole way to Belfast

Thanks !

GP note for office exemption during pregnancy – anyone dealt with this?

Hi all,

I’m currently in my 2nd trimester and trying to get an exemption from our office attendance quota so I can work from home until I'm due early next year.

Our company’s policy keeps changing, and what’s actually approved or allowed during pregnancy seems to be a total grey area. I met with HR recently and they basically said that being pregnant isn't enough on its own - I’ll need a formal medical note specifying clear health grounds.

For context: this is an IVF pregnancy and I’m dealing with high blood pressure, which I need to monitor closely to prevent pre-eclampsia.

I'm planning to chat with my GP about writing a note, but I wanted to see if anyone else here has navigated this? How did you approach the conversation with your doctor? Or get them to write what you need.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

Where to stay? Visited a few times!

Hiya!

I'm over in a few weeks and looking for recs of where to stay? It'll be a wed and Thurs.

Want somewhere accessible to travel around and maybe nice foodie places or shops nearby. We visited Notting hill before and that was super cute - that sort of vibe? (But maybe slightly more budget friendly) Additionally Thinking not central London as I am pregnant and want a more chill vibe this time - parks brunch wandering, living like a local!

We will be visiting friends in Putney one night so thinking not east London this time - though I have stayed there before and it is v cool and fun

Any recs of an area or hotel would be great thanks!!

Thanks!!

Clothes!

Hi there! I'm early pregnancy (10 weeks) and some of my jeans are starting to feel tight (we went through IVF so they were a little right anyway after putting on weight during it)

Just wondering about what clothes to invest in? Not sure whether to just size up in a few bits or what is good to get the mat version of now that will last me? Or will they all be swimming on me? For context just feeling waistbands are feeling tight, and boobs have got a little bigger so dresses that don't have much stretch there are starting to feel a little uncomfortable too

Any suggestions for brands, websites would be really helpful. Would prefer to get bits that would see me through a few seasons, hate throwing clothes if not necessary!

Update: happy in leggings for homewear but do want some nicer pieces for work (casual to smart casual) and just over the summer /autumn when I'm out and about :)

Thanks a million!

Public or Private - NMH

Hi There,

We are debating whether to go private vs public. I am 38 year old, I do have existing high blood pressure (well controlled via medication), and we have conceived via IVF luckily.

I feel really torn? Finding it hard to justify a large expense with a baby on the way - but do feel slightly nervous given medical background & if I am taking a risk going public?

I've been told in the fertility clinic I would be considered low risk, but my GP has said I could be high risk on account of high blood pressure, so that is in conflict. I'm not sure if I would qualify for DOMINO scheme & so would be going to consultant led clinics in the NMH anyway? I understand the Consultant would not be the same each time. Regarding longish waiting for appts, that would not bother me honestly. I do also understand that a private room is not a given going private. I have heard to rule out semi-private as it's a waste of money - and go fully private if we do decide on that route.

I do plan to ring my private health insurer tomorrow to fully understand what is covered.

Any feedback on NMH & Private vs Public would be really helpful!

Thanks so much
