Cala D’Or? Santanyi?

Hello! My girl friend and I (mid twenties) are booking a trip and need some advice about location and hotels. We are planning to do 2 days near the Santanyi area before then going over to Palma for 3 nights. Palma spot is booked. I would love to know any towns people love to stay in in the Cala D’Or or Santanyi area. Looking to be near a nice beach, walkable to a nice restaurant? A hotel that is mainly adults and not children. Budget for the 2 nights is around 1k. Super flexible on location just want to be on the coast! ?

Hidden gems and local tips for Mallorca?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to Majorque this summer and I like checking Reddit before travelling to get advice from people who have already been there.

I'm looking for typical places, hidden gems, less touristy beaches, villages, restaurants, or any spots you really enjoyed discovering.

What are the places you loved in Majorque and would recommend without hesitation?

Thanks in advance!

How's This Itinerary?

My wife and I (middle-aged, U.S.) are visiting Mallorca for 5 days in early Sept. Want some beach experience, but I also want to feel like I'm in Europe, not Fort Lauderdale. Would like to avoid the worst over-tourism, so skipping Deia and Valldemossa, even though they're supposed to be beautiful. Have been agonizing over this itinerary for a month, so now turning to Reddit for advice/suggestions:

Tues: arrive 7 am from EWR. Renting a car, driving to hotel Bordoy Mostatxins in old town Alcudia. Will be too early to check in, but hope to store our bags, then maybe wander the old town, have lunch somewhere, then check in, nap, cocktails then dinner somewhere walkable.

Wed: drive to a beach or two. Want something scenic, but not the Instagram-famous secluded coves with no parking and no services. Thinking Formentor or maybe Cala Sant Vincenc. Walk to dinner again somewhere in old town Alcudia.

Thurs: would like to do a boat tour to see a couple of the harder-to-get-to beaches. Leaving from Port de Pollenca or Cala d'or? Suggestions welcome here.

Fri: check out, drive to airport, return rental car, then taxi to Palma. Check into Hotel Nakar (tossup with Puro Grand, which looks like a cooler historic building, but Nakar has rooftop pool w/view). Wander old town Palma, see the Cathedral and/or the Royal Palace, have lunch somewhere. Cocktail on the rooftop, then dinner in old town Palma.

Sat: train to Soller and tram to the port. Touristy, but also kind of relaxed sightseeing. Lunch at some cafe in Soller, then train back to Palma. Late afternoon dip in the pool, cocktail, then walk to dinner somewhere.

Sun: morning taxi to the airport.

Rent a car 2026

Hello everybody,

Do you recommend renting with RecordGo with the full insurance?
Or better Europcar?

I had good experience with Moovtorent a couple of years ago, but it became more expensive this year.

Thanks a lot!

Photographer / recommendations needed

Hi everyone, I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend on our trip to Mallorca from June 14-18th and am looking for a photographer to capture the moment and or recommend some spots which won’t have an enormous tourist crowd. If you know of any dreamy spots or are a photographer, please let me know.

Overnight parking

Good afternoon all,

I’m planning on visiting Mallorca but the hostel I’m staying at doesn’t have parking available for those staying.

Is there overnight parking available in Palma that’s affordable?

Any help is appreciated 🙏

Mallorca itinerary for 2 single 40 year old women:)

Heading to Mallorca in early September for 6 nights. We are young 40 year olds, love to explore, want beautiful beaches, boat rides, good food and dancing (although not looking to get wild and go to clubs past midnight haha) We will have a car the entire time. This is my current itinerary:

Day 1-Pick up car in Palma and drive North to either Soller, Deia or Valledmosa (stay one night there) Along the way make stops in

  • Valldemossa
  • Deià
  • Sa Calobra
  • Cap de Formentor

Day 2 and 3-Drive to Porta de Pollenca and stay 2 nights

-Beaches, boat ride, old town markets, hiking

Day 4 and 5-Drive down to east Mallorca and stay in either Cala d’Or, Santanyi or Porto Cristo  (along the way, stop at Arta, Coves del Drach, Cala Mesquida

Day 6- Explore Palma and fly out the following day.

I have heard different things about staying in Porta de Pollenca as well as Cala d'Or so would love honest feedback. We are completely flexible too so please suggest other spots.

Also, I am curious if we would be better off starting our trip in Palma and staying the night or ending there and staying the night. We fly out in the morning.

Thank you for any insight!

Tips for a three-day trip

Hi! So this weekend I'll be travelling to Mallorca for the first time (seem weather will be amazing!) and will be staying in the Cala d’Or area. This will be a short trip, only three days, and for that reason I don't want to be moving from one place to another like crazy, just chilling, having a cold beer, enjoying the calas and having a nice dinner at the end of the day. Was wondering if you have good tips for calas to visit (will be around Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and restaurants for dinner (Italian, local ones all welcome. Looking forward to some ensaimadas!). Just want to avoid any tourist traps. I was in Menorca last summer and had a great time there. Hoping for the same. Many thanks!

What happened with the prices?

I've been to Mallorca a few times in the last couple of years, it's probably my favourite place in Europe for a holiday. And suddenly the hotels feel much more expensive as compared to the last 3-4 years.

I wonder what happened. a) am I wrong? b) wars and inflation all over Europe? c) something specific to Palma or Spain? d) kids getting out of school so the next 3 months will be expensive?

Saving Lost Plushie at Pueblo Español de Mallorca

Last night my wife lost one of her very sentimental stuffed plushies, named Epe, at the open air stadium in Pueblo Español de Mallorca! She is very distressed, and she views these plushies as very precious to her as it is very small but has journied with her quite far.

The first picture is of Epe, the stingray which she normally keeps on her backpack.

We were positive we lost it in the areas shown in the two outdoor pictures from yesterday, somewhere in the open-air stadium — somewhere between the middle of the stadium to the right side of the 2nd picture or the near the top stairwell in the 3rd photo. If not there, it could also be in the big reception hall.

We went in-person this morning to look for it, but could not access the place where we are sure we lost it! The receptionist today was helpful, but she could not let us in to look as we cannot speak Spanish.

However we saw some people in the area near we are sure she is and hope maybe someone local can search tomorrow and find and save Epe ☹️!

If anyone willing to help us can find and retrieve Epe, I can reimburse them with 50€! This would mean so much to my wife. We are in Mallorca until next Saturday, please message me or post here if you find them!

Gifting an experience, what to do in October

I am going to Mallorca in October with my parents and for their birthdays, I want to gift them an experience instead of a traditional gift but I also want it to be budget friendly.

I would appreciate any ideas!! My parents don’t drink at all so nothing that would include alcohol

Inflatable water park on the beach

Hello guys, I'm planning a trip to Mallorca with kids. I was looking for beaches with inflatable water parks. Does anyone know where? I found some, but the information is outdated. Does anyone know if so, where it is located? Thanks in advance.

Considerations, critics and suggestions for my 5 days trip in Mallorca

Hola a todos, I guess I'm not the first one nor the last to ask for a suggestion, but you are a community of 17k, so I'm confident someone is willing to help me!

I'm (26yo) planning to offer a trip to my sister (32yo) in Mallorca for 5 days the second week of June. We are searching for nature-related activities (kayaking, snorkelling, ...) and places rather than museums and cities (we'll visit this last one for sure anyway). Moreover, we are also really happy to join the nightlife of the various locations, parties included!

We are planning to sleep in hostels and rent a car to follow the path indicated on the map attached. I (who is organising the entire trip) was thinking about renting the car close to the airport for the 5 days and following the path clockwise, leaving the playas for the last days.

I speak English fluently, and my sister speaks Spanish fluently as well.

With the above context, do you have any suggestions for us of any sort? Places, events, local-reserved secrets, hidden places, food, dangers, scammers, ... anything

P.S. Imo travel with a local is the best thing ever, in case you want to show us your city, you are more than welcome!

Gracias!

Can anyone help with activities for a geek stag?

Best man trying to organise a couple of activities for a stag doo. My mate wants a chilled stag by the pool, which I intend on delivering but want one or two cool activities to take him on. We’re at a hotel in Calas de Malloca, He loves pirates & D&D. Would love to hire a boat and do “an adventure” style trip with rum and treasure hunt kinda thing. But if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know, I’d really appreciate it. Also any ideas on somewhere in the area to head one evening for drinks would also be appreciated.

Port De Sóller Beach Cabanas?

Hi Redditors! Hoping you can help me out here! We’re going to Mallorca and staying in Port de Sóller to celebrate my wife’s 40th bday. We also have 2 young kids. We would love to have a day of just lounging on the beach but with a nice cabana/daybed style set up. Ideally with food/drink service. Is there anywhere in town that offers this? Or anywhere somewhat close?

Thank you!

Pollença / Cala D’Or Hotels

Hey, we are about to visit Mallorca with our 9 month old (previously visited many times alone). We usually stay in Palma Nova area but have also travelled around Sóller and Valldemossa.

Our priorities are:

- walkable with a pushchair
- good food (no British rubbish - we are British!)
- prefer hotels with lovely and warm pool areas over beaches (but still love a walk/view of the beach!)
- light day trips for exploring

Google recommends Port De Pollença, Playa De Muro and Cala D’Or.

Has anyone got any thoughts and even specific hotel recommendations please?
