Might be considered harsh by Blinks: Jennie's new single was underwhelming to me

Am I the only one who thought Less Than A Lover was eh? LIke its not bad by any means. I just noticed the breathiness of it a lot more than I do in other songs with that breathiness and it kinda took away from the lyrics and did make it difficult to understand at points (now I am half asleep but we grind baby). I liked the instrumentals and its a sweet song... but it just feels like every other song out rn. I do like that the song isn't the typical "money, s*x and fame" trope that comes from her and Lisa AND I found the aesthetics of the MV and the release in general pretty cute. Its just the song was underwhelming.

Maybe I've fallen out of love with Blackpink, which is sad considering they were my intro to kpop in 2023-2024.

The song i'd rate like a 6/10. Not bad, not going on the playlist as of now. Maybe it'll grow on me.

(EDIT 7/24: I have read the comments. In no way, shape or form did I intend to come across as hateful or to play the victim of a fandom card. I can see how it comes across as such, and I truly am sorry for that. With the comment about bracing for bad reactions: again, I am not trying to play a victim card, but I have seen what happens when someone dislikes something about Blackpink and how SOME, NOT ALL Blinks will attack someone for that opinion. I brace for that sort of thing when posting in Blackpink specific subs when my opinion will most likely not be the majority. I do that with lots of things, not just kpop opinions. And when it is kpop opinions, it is across most if not all fandoms. In no way, shape or form was I trying to come across as condescending, rude, or hateful to people who liked this song, Jennie or Blackpink, and I sincerely apologize for that. Unless I don't know what I'm doing, for some reason the "This may be harsh for Blinks" from my title, and I am sorry I put that there in the first place. I apologize to any Blinks I offended in terms of my comments about the fandom. About listening to Jennie's music: I should state I have listened to her entire discography. And yes, not all of her songs are about money, sex and fame. Examples being Starlight, twin, ZEN, etc. I should have stated such in my post, but several of the songs do come across with that materialistic vibe to me. NOT ALL, but enough of them that I've noticed a pattern. Examples being LIke Jennie, with the IE, Mantra, etc. I should have stated that not all of her music is that way, and again I sincerely apologize.)

So if you live in the US, you're being watched by A PRIVATE FUCKING COMPANY'S CAMERAS NOW :D

For those of you who do not live here or don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about Flock security cameras (and now drones). There are around 120,00 of the cameras right now that are installed, and the company is based in Atlanta, Georgia

These cameras, created by Flock Safety, were made to supposedly "help law enforcement agencies to solve and reduce the number of crimes" in areas. The drones are a new announcement (saw it today) and will be able to travel at up to 60MPH (around 96.6 KPH) to take pictures of license plates on the highway... what else they can do, I do not know. The cameras have been put up in 49 states in the US (they're not in Alaska), BUT they are not just CCTV cameras.

They use AI

The AI will recognize the make, model, color and state of license plates.... along with unique bumper stickers, scratches, dents, roof racks, AND NEWER MODELS CAN DETECT AND REMEMBER PEOPLE. THE COMPANY SAID IT DOES NOT TRACK PEOPLE, BUT TRAINING VIDEOS SUGGEST OTHERWISE

The AI uses this information it gets to make a portfolio of you and your family, which can then be used by the police to locate people with these descriptions INSTEAD of the license plate (Ex, if they're looking for a person with a white Honda Civic, they can put in the description of the car and other features they know instead of needing to hunt down the license plate).

...Except its a PRIVATELY OWNED COMPANY MAKING FILES ON OUR EVERY FUCKING MOVEMENT!! There have been cases of police tracking people traveling over state lines for reproductive health care and to monitor political protesters, and even a few cases of people losing their jobs because they used the system TO STALK PEOPLE. This shows how easy it is to bypass the system's safe guards.

Its also been found by ethical hackers that its hella easy to hack into the Flock system due to vulnerabilities (for example there is no multi-factor authentication for law enforcement agents. Check out Benn Jordan's video on the matter linked below). It took these ethical hackers under 30 seconds to get into the system.. meaning that ANYONE AT ANY TIME could EASILY hack this company and get access to cameras that could very well show everything about where you live, what car you drive, your daily routines, etc.

Finally, since its a private company and they are not open about where the streams are stored or what is done with them, what is stopping them from selling this footage to foreign countries? Its not monitored or operated by the US Government, so they can do WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT as long as they don't get caught.

My dad says "Any deal can be made with enough money." Hes not wrong. Our personal lives are being recorded on tape, being abused because of a weak OS and weak security, and there is a possibility these streams could be used as intelligence in other countries and to train AI programs.

We're living in 1984 now i guess.. Stay safe out there people 🫡

Here is a map of ALL of the cameras in the states: https://maps.deflock.org/?lat=39.4191&lng=-91.5787&zoom=3.44

This video can probably explain it better than I can: https://youtu.be/LJSgsf9ro38?si=P7JaMrNzEZBshf6G

You KNOW you're gonna regret watching something/question your whole life when this song comes on 90% of the time

Like shit is either about to get disturbing, real, or just cringe as fuck (in that rare 10% it does get cringe)

If your OTPs had kids, what are some headcanons you'd have about them/their kids/others in your fandom's reactions to the kids?

...how does one even get into the lore of GI Joe?

Okay, so I'm starting to get into all of the GI Joe stuff due to the live action movies (just Rise Of Cobra and Retaliation). First of all, I watched simply because I love the dude who plays Storm Shadow. Secondly, it makes me cringe seeing how inaccurate these movies are to the OG characters, so we're just going to pretend that those movies never happened (I can get into a whole RANT on those movies but I will spare you all that).

How would you suggest getting into it all? I wanna read the comics, but as a teen girl (Not stating age) with NO JOB BESIDES SCHOOLING, I doubt I have the money to buy every single comic ever. Ik there's TV shows, but I saw another post saying that the OG cartoon is like a family friendly, everyone lives in the end type thing instead of it being lore accurate.

Again, I might be talking nonsense. I dunno really what I'm talking about in all honesty, so any suggestions would be helpful! I don't know any family into it either, so here I am asking the internet LOLOL

Deleting my account

I've used it on and off for 2-3 years now, and it had a good run UP UNTIL that lawsuit and all of it became "give us money, your ID and your face and get nothing at all."

I know they have to follow laws instated by the government in their state, hence the 18+ ban, but genuinely this app's responses are so bad for both paid and free that its not worth it anymore for those above and below 18

peace out CAI. We had a good run 😔✌️

UPDATE on the babies + pics

So, this is an update to my OG post right here: Some Baby Birds I Found On My Walk

I just wanted to give you guys a picture update since I checked on then and a) the nest didn't blow away and b) Both babies are alive and well C) mama came back because she was alarmed when I walked by (I didn't mean to scare her off, I was just walking by, but she did fly to a nearby tree so I stopped for a couple pictures. Did not touch them)

I don't plan on posting more about these guys after this, but just an update :)

Some baby birds I saved on my walk + pics

Google image search said they were most likely 7-9 days and WAY too little to be jumping out of the nest to learn to fly, BUT I don't know if its accurate! If its not, let me know!

But heres the story (neither of the baby birds are hurt and are okay as of when I'm writing this):

I was walking around my neighborhood, as I do a lot, and saw the nest was on the ground. We did have major storms around here so that could've knocked it out of the tree. The nest was fully intact and not broken, so I just thought it was an old nest.... and then I look in the grass and see these little guys (I think they're robins.. the mama who was squawking at me the entire time sounded like one)

So of course I wanted to help. See, its not my house I was walking by, but the nest/babies and the tree was right next to the road. Next to this house, I saw the neighbor (late 60-early 70s I think.. we'll call her Clara because I wont expose her real name). I called out to Clara to let her know what I was doing and that I wasn't being a creep, and she was telling me that the mother bird won't come back if I touched the babies and to leave them alone.

I found out that myth was debunked a while back because robins (and most backyard birds) have poor sense of smell and won't smell you on them, but I did google it to be safe (it says I was right but lemme know if I'm not!). So I just said okay and put the babies back anyways while she was still outside with the dog because I wasn't worried about her, I was worried about the babies. Mama bird was NOT happy I was touching the babies and squawking a lot, but she did calm down after I left the vicinity (as I expected- my mom actually saved a baby robin at our house a few weeks ago because our puppy tried to eat it LOL... that baby was in the stage where it learns to fly- uhh I think those are fledglings.. idk tho! That baby bird was not harmed at all and she flew away!).

I'm a teen (not stating age but under 18, aka age you become a legal adult where I live), and when I told my mom this, she said its a fine line with what I did. She said that I should've just listened to Clara (bc shes an adult and im a child) and left them alone and could've even done another lap so she would be inside before helping. But my thought was "what if something got them before I got back?" because the people across the street from the house with the birds has a cat I've seen out and about in the yard. I wasn't trying to be rude in the moment, but I was focused on the birds and not thinking about offending any adults.

ANYWAYS thats my rant! Ik my mom's response to it all isn't important, but I included it bc idk if im in the wrong and I figured one of you might have advice there. I'll check on the babies tomorrow to make sure they're all right and fill you guys in!

(Im not like a big bird nerd, so I dont know the correct terms, but I thought this story was so cool and I felt good after doing it) (Yes, I washed my hands after I touched them: I ended up asking an Amazon guy for hand sanitizer but he didn't have any so I waited until I went home to wash them (didnt touch my face or anything until then).
