New mapping utility

New mapping utility

I always found the online mapping tools missing some crucial features, and since Mexico turned out to be fairly complex, I finally created my own, with a bunch of tools that I always wanted:

  • Ability to show ALL missions, even locked ones.
  • Show dynamic links right on the map, visualizing delivery targets & sources.
  • Allow me to click on any object on the map to show its mission relations.
  • In addition to showing my mission progress also show all deployed vehicles.
  • Show vehicle information (like hitch type or cargo).
  • Select a whole area, and then show me what needs to be delivered to, or from, there (done via Shift mouse-drag to show destinations, and Shift-Ctrl mouse-drag for sources)
  • Allow me to add notes and drawings.

I'm not sure if it's just me (with my sucky memory) that needs all these crutches, or if other people are in the same boat; but I've uploaded a test version here, so you can check it out, and let me know if it might come in handy for other users. (Only the Mexico maps are activated for testing.)

It's still in the early stages of development, so there's probably quite a few bugs there, but I'm mainly interested in whether there's a "need" for yet another mapping utility...

(A few notable things that are still missing are fuel levels for trucks and display and integration of unpacked cargo. I'm still working on those.)

Update: Looks like the high demand is crashing my server...
It was only meant as a test balloon anyway, so I took it offline for now.
Since I don't really want to pay even more for better hosting, perhaps I'll just publish it as an offline version (works much better that way anyway, in regards to the game save updates).

If you still have the map open in your browser, and you want to continue using it, then just never close that page. It should continue working.

How deep is the water?

Since you can't get out of the truck and check how deep the water you're trying to cross is, here's the next best thing: Use ReShade with the ShaderToggler addon, and you can toggle the visibility of water. (You can also do it with the vegetation - to simulate walking through there, to get a better look.)

The ShaderToggler comes with a bit of a learning curve, but there are a bunch of videos out there that'll walk you through the process.

The shaders you need to disable for the water are: 854878431, 2384576763, 2609566178 & 2944830165, and the ones for the nearby vegetation are: 3240639803 & 4016251346
(Or you can download a config file from here. Ctrl-W hides the water, Ctrl-T hides the trees.)

Forever "currently checking"

I just signed up to TorBox, and added a few magnets that have plenty of seeds, but in the dashboard they all show up with zero seeds, and the status is "Currently checking" (for the last half hour or so): https://i.imgur.com/iyFPhCV.png
Is TorBox down? Is there a status page anywhere? Or should I ask for a refund?
(Not a good start...)

P.S. I found the status page, and it claims everything is fine. So, what's going on???

OS update screwed up and lost root.

I'm using a Motorola edge (now on Android 15), and had good success in the past applying system updates by temporarily uninstalling Magisk, restoring backup images, running the update, and then reinstalling Magisk before the reboot (via the "Install to Inactive Slot" option).
Last time though, it ran into some issues during the update, and it ended up rebooting without Magisk having been re-enabled.

Can I recover my previous root from the Magisk backup, or do I have to go through the whole root install procedure as if it were a new phone?

Looks like the swamp dwellers are jealous of the guys on the beach for their much nicer environment, always starting fights with them (even the normally fairly chill Crusher is getting in on the action).

I was "stranded" on this island without any ammo or fast travel bells (and due to the massive amount of enemy ships around I didn't want to do two more extra trips in & out), so I had to find some "alternative" way of dealing with this guy.

When building the trap it's crucial to have those pillars in there. That keeps him from moving, as otherwise he will destroy the stone walls quite quickly. As long as you stay a good distance away from it, it's ok; he will just sit there meekly in his box, but if you get close he will break the walls.
