Looking for a co-founder to handle lead generation & sales for a software agency

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a co-founder to build a software agency from scratch.

About me:

  • B.Tech CSE graduate from NIT
  • Software Engineer with 2+ years of experience
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in building software solutions
  • Have already completed multiple freelance projects

What I’ll handle:

  • All technical work — development, delivery, and maintenance of software projects

What I’m looking for in a co-founder:

  • Someone who has a background and some experience/results in sales or lead generation
  • Responsible for owning lead generation, reaching out to potential clients, running sales conversations, and closing deals
  • Should have some proven experience or tangible results in business development and client acquisition (not just theoretical knowledge)

Important context:

  • We’re in the early stage - currently just me building the foundation
  • This won’t be a full-time role in the beginning. We’ll work together part-time and grow step by step
  • I’m not expecting someone who’s already an expert — just someone with real experience who is willing to build and execute alongside me

Note:
I’m only looking for a co-founder. Please do not reach out if you’re trying to sell automation tools, SaaS products, lead generation services, or any other paid offerings.

I know some people will say “you’re too early.” My view is simple: every successful agency started from zero. Someone has to do the hard work of generating leads and acquiring clients from the beginning.

If this resonates with you, feel free to DM me. Happy to have an honest conversation about how we can work together.

Looking forward to connecting.

Starting freelance web development from scratch — is my lead generation approach right?

I'm starting out as a solo freelancer providing website development services, with the long-term goal of eventually building an agency.

Since I don't have clients yet, I'm trying to figure out a practical way to generate my first few leads.

My current approach is to find businesses through Google Maps, collect their website, email and social media information, check their website to identify genuine problems or opportunities, and then reach out with a personalized message offering my services.

I'm planning to start with one niche and test the process with a small number of prospects before scaling it.

For people who have experience with freelance or agency client acquisition, is this a good approach to start with, or am I missing something important?

Also, would you focus more on businesses that don't have a website, or businesses that already have a website but clearly need improvements?

If you were starting from zero today, would you use a similar approach or take a completely different route?

I'm mainly looking for honest feedback before I spend too much time building a process around it.

Starting my solo freelance journey (2+ YOE developer) — looking for lead generation guidance

Hi everyone,

I'm a software developer with 2+ years of experience, and I'm planning to start freelancing on my own. My long-term goal is to eventually build a software agency, but right now I'm starting completely from scratch.

I know writing code is only one part of the business, and getting a consistent flow of clients seems like the biggest challenge. I'd love to learn from people who've already been through this journey.

  1. If you were starting from scratch today, how would you learn lead generation?

  2. Which channels have given you the best results (cold email, LinkedIn, Reddit, X, SEO, paid ads, referrals, etc.)?

  3. How do you find and qualify potential clients?

  4. What tools do you use for prospecting, outreach, and follow-ups?

  5. What mistakes do most new freelancers make when trying to get their first clients?

  6. If your goal was to go from a solo freelancer to building an agency, what roadmap would you follow?

  7. As someone who's more technical than sales-oriented, should I spend time learning lead generation myself, or focus on development and partner with someone who can bring in clients? If partnering is the better approach, how do you find trustworthy people when you're just starting out?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or spammy tactics. I want to build a sustainable business the right way and would really appreciate any advice, resources, or lessons from your own experience.

Thanks in advance!
