Hi everyone! I’ve been struggling with my generalized anxiety for a really long time now and earlier this week my therapist recommended I looked into medication. Within 2 days I had an appointment with a psychiatrist and soon afterI had a prescription for lexapro.
It feels like it’s just snowballed so quickly, and I’ve been reading a lot about the side effects and how difficult the first few weeks can be when starting an SSRI.
Thankfully my dosage is low, at only 5mg, but I’m still fearful for what the first few weeks may bring and I still weirdly have some skepticism around SSRIs in the first place. Just 3 days ago, medications weren’t even on my radar and now suddenly I have a pill bottle in my house and I’m left with the decision whether or not I want to start this process.
My anxiety has been permeating through every corner of my life and so it is time to change something, but I feel scared. Anyone have any advice on how to come to terms with the situation? I don’t even feel totally sure I want to start it.

I was sitting at my sister’s apartment early in the morning when a crow suddenly flew up to her balcony railing looked at me, threw something up, and then flew away. Couldn’t help but feel like this was an omen of some sort… without scaring me too much, is there something there that I should look out for?
