Apparently, We're Bringing One of the These Back for Next Season. Which One Do You Want?

Grade This Offseason

Personally, I'm giving it a B. We did the moves I wanted. Made a trade for a floor-raising player (Randle). Drafted the BPA (Mikel). Brought back Sharpe and Minott on team-friendly deals. Made some minor moves with steady vets (Keon Ellis and Mo Wagner).

We didn't do anything special, but we didn't do anything egregiously wrong either. Only reason why I don't give it an A is because we didn't settle what we're going to do with MPJ. No extension, no trade. I know there's still time left to do something, and we can always sign him next summer, but it just feels underwhelming.

Danny Wolf or Noah Clowney? Battle for Backup PF

I think our starting lineup is pretty much set (Mikel/Egor/MPJ/Randle/Sharpe), unless a trade happens with MPJ. But our bench is kinda fluid.

I think Wolf and Clowney will battle it out for backup PF privileges. I think Minott should probably be our backup 3, so that's set. But I'm going back & forth between Clowney and Wolf.

If I had to guess, Clowney would get the edge, simply because Jordi really likes that guy lol. And coaches (whether they admit or not) do have favorites.

A Conversation About Drake Powell...

I don't want this post to be about just bashing on Powell. But I'm going to be brutally honest about him too.

You can be horrible for an NBA player. But he's not even that right now, he's just horrible, period.

And it's a shame, because he was not this bad last season. He was a serviceable-ish wing on a bad team. Now he doesn't even look good enough for that.

I don't know if he's going through something personal or what, but when you got guys like Chaney Johnson balling their mofo'ing hearts out on the court, chasing the contract that Powell already has, you really gotta think about it.

Scouting reports did say Powell needed more time in college, and looks like they were right.

TLDR: Cut Powell. Sign Chaney Johnson.

Magic Fans Seem To Really Love Mo Wagner

I think out of all the moves we've done so far, signing Mo has been the least favorable by Nets fans. I personally like it, but I get the backlash. He's not a star. And he's not even a starter.

But man, look at all the love he's getting from Magic fans. Go on their subreddit. Nothing but "So happy for Mo", or "I'm gonna miss Mo" comments. Julius Randle was NOT getting that type of love from Minny lol.

Seems to me Wagner is a pure energy guy, who's also a great locker room presence. Every team needs one. I don't think we really had that guy last season, which is another reason why we were so boring to watch. Just lifeless.

All I'm saying is, Magic fans loved him for a reason, so I'll take their word for it.

Projected Depth Chart for 26/27 Season

PG: Mikel/Traore/Saraf

SG: Egor/Ellis/Mann

SF: MPJ/Wolf/Powell

PF: Randle/Clowney/Minott

C: Sharpe/Wagner/Jefferson

A lot can change between now and this post, but this is my idea for the lineup rotation. And honestly, I'm liking what we got.

Mid? Sure. But mid is a whole lot better than last season.

Very Insightful Video on Julius Randle

Really goes to show just how good and bad this dude can be. We're gonna have moments where we absolutely love this guy, and want him to be part of our future.

And other moments where we want to ship him back to Minnesota.
