I have a 1.9 TDI Mk4 Golf 2003 74Kw, it has a safe mode problem, i first noticed it when the speedometer hit 120kmh, it went limp and lost power and stopped accelerating, then i started experimenting with it a bit, in 4th gear it goes limp on 100kmh, in 3rd gear its on 80kmh, but i also noticed that when it climbs to about 2000-2200rpm the car sounds different, it starts like rumbling and the car sounds a bit deeper then usual, and it gets pretty loud while im in the car, and when i hold the gas on about 2k rpm for a bit longer it goes limp again. I went to mechanics and they said that my turbo needs to be cleaned or replaced, i took it to another mechanic and he took the turbo off and said that its actually clean and the heart of the turbo is not wobbling or damaged.
