If you had a gap in house from now until August 15th, how would you go about finding a lease to take over?
I need to rent a car for three months until I can buy a car of my own. I can’t afford to pay $1,200-$1,500/month for a car rental through Turo, Enterprise or another competitor. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
I’m relocating and need to sublet a place for just July or July and August. Any suggestions on how to find someone with a lease to takeover?
I had Bells Palsy 14 years ago. I have some synkinesis on the side of my face that was paralyzed. When I raise an eyebrow on that side, the corner of my mouth raises involuntarily. I feel self-conscious about my face. I feel like it looks lopsided and very asymmetrical. The side of my face that was paralyzed looks like it is all raised slightly higher than the other side of my face.
How lopsided and asymmetrical does my face look? Please be honest.
I am deeply heartbroken over the end of a relationship that I wasn’t even sure I wanted to be in. It was a three year relationship that was on and off, but the entire time, we were best friends and were in one another’s lives. There were a lot of signs for me that the relationship wasn’t right. That being said, I deeply loved and cared about her and still do. In the end, we took a break, she wanted to reunite and I wasn’t ready yet, and then she spent a weekend having sex with a stranger and then ended the relationship over text, remorseless over her actions and totally cold and calloused towards me. She’s now suddenly moving forward with dating this new guy based on the excitement of something new.
It’s so hurtful for someone to go from acting like they love you more than anyone in the world, to having sex with someone they’ve never met four days later, and then ending the relationship and never wanting to see you again two days after that because they’ve found someone new.
What encourages me is the fact that her behavior and her attitude about her behavior confirms that I was right to feel that she wasn’t the woman I wanted to spend my life with. That being said, I still feel a tremendous sense of loss and heartbreak. There is a feeling of sadness that comes in waves throughout the day. I deeply miss her. Part of me wants to restore the relationship but I know now that she’s done this, I could never be with her.
Have any of you started feeling significantly better after a breakup in as few as 2-3 weeks?
I’m working on a LitRPG story and building up chapters to put on RR. Is it important to identify and write a trending subgenre of LitRPG in order to grow on the platform?
I’m not convinced that it is necessary because what’s trending changes so quickly and what’s trending one month will be old news the next month.
What do y’all think?
I’m a new writer. I am vehemently against using AI to write entire sentences, paragraphs, or chapters for you. I don’t consider a book created that way to be art at that point.
That being said, as I’ve been writing my book, I have found AI incredibly useful for several purposes. I think of AI as a research assistant and writing tutor combined into one. Here are the things I am using it for:
Magic System Analysis - I will share my magic system with an AI tool to see if it coherent, consistent, and interesting as it changes.
Plot Analysis - I will share my plot with AI tool make sure it is original, interesting, and doesn’t have any plot holes.
Dictionary and Thesaurus
Researching Descriptions - Let’s say I am trying to describe a character’s experience of fear and I have already used several descriptions multiple times and I don’t want to overuse those descriptions. I will ask an AI tool to send me 20 different ways to describe a character’s experience of fear, and I will choose one that’s most in line with my own voice and then customize it further for the context I am using it in.
Name Generation
Originality Analysis - I will ask an AI tool to assess how original one of my ideas is.
For use case #4, I have heard objections to this. I understand the knee-jerk response of saying that the phrase isn’t original because I got it from AI, but I don’t think that objection stands up to scrutiny. Many of the phrases we use in our books are not original. Whether we use a phrase that we heard in a movie, heard in a conversation, read in a book, learned in a writing class, or read in a response from an AI tool, the phrase was still sourced externally. There is no difference between whether I learned a description from a writing course or from ChatGPT. In either case, I didn’t know the phrase, and then I learned about it, and then I used it in my writing.
I didn’t create this post for validation. I am curious to see if there are any arguments that strongly demonstrate that any of these use-cases make my writing less authentic than if I used Google, a writing course, or a textbook to solve the problem.
Is it considered cheating to use AI for research, synonyms, or different ways to describe something? For example, if I wanted to look up different ways to describe someone running down a flight of stairs quickly and AI suggested “he took the stairs two at a time”, is that cheating? I simply don’t have an extensive enough knowledge of the English language to know how to describe certain things or haven’t read enough books to copy how other authors describe things.
I am not talking about using AI to actually write paragraphs or chapters of a book. I’m talking about using it primarily for research as a thesaurus for words or synonyms for phrases.
I have zero interest in using AI to write a book for me. I love to write. I don’t consider any sort of art created by AI to even be art. That being said, I do think that AI can cut down the time it takes to do research and to discover different ways to word a description.
Edit for further discussion:
In the example I used, let’s say a writer already knows the phrase “he took the stairs two at a time” and he uses that phrase in a scene in his book. He didn’t come up with that phrase as his own original writing. At some point in the past, he heard that phrase used in conversation or he read it in another book. As he’s writing, he pauses to think of a description for running down stairs quickly, then he recollects the phrase from memory, and then borrows it for use in a scene he thinks it would fit well in. If someone uses AI to learn that same phrase, that’s just a different way to learn it. That’s my perspective and I’m curious what other people think.
When I say “using AI to produce full-length novels”, I mean using very detailed chapter-by-chapter prompting around characters, dialogue, scene, plot, etc but letting AI do all the actual writing. I don’t mean pressing a button and getting a novel. I fully understand that that’s not how AI works.
Personally, I love to write, and I am concerned about the use of AI to produce full-length novels because it will make it harder for good books or even great books written by humans to get noticed.
Are any of you earning a living this way?
I’ve been paying my mortgage by myself without fail ever since the house was bought. After the divorce, I paid my ex-wife half of the equity and had her name removed from the deed. Her name is still on the mortgage and she told me several months ago that she wants her name off the mortgage per the divorce decree.
I do not have enough income on my own to qualify for a loan assumption, but I don’t want to be forced to sell. It sounds like my only option is this long shot: offer to pay my ex-wife 10% of the mortgage monthly to keep her name on the mortgage. She’s likely to say no to that but I don’t know what else to do.
What are my options?
Edit:
Will the bank allow me to complete an assumption and keep my rate if the property is no longer owner-occupied? It’s been years since the origination of the loan and circumstances change. I couldn’t qualify for the loan if I am occupying it based solely on my income. But if I rent the property out, I can rent it for about $4,000 and my total loan obligation would be about $2,500.
