[AskJS] referring to parent or grandparent class instance properties
How do you all refer to parent or grandparent (or related) class instances and their properties?
I have a bunch of classes that create instances of other classes as properties. Suppose ClassA has properties that are instances of ClassB, ClassC, and ClassD, and the ClassD class has properties ClassD1 through ClassD9, and each of those is a different class instance with various methods.
Currently, when I start with myClassAObject and I call one of its ClassD9 methods and that method needs a property from its uncle ClassB, I feel awkward and/or dumb for doing this by passing myClassAObject to that method:
const returnval = myClassAObject.itsClassDObject.theClassD9method(myClassAObject);
…and then that method gets the property from myClassAObject.itsClassBObject.theProperty
I know this functions, but it shouts “inelegant” every time I do it. Do y’all know a more elegant way? TIA
eBay's Shipping Protection Plan vs. their insurance upsell
When selling, at what card value $ amount should I let eBay upsell me on USPS insurance + signature confirmation, if a card is going to the authenticator?
I haven't done this before. Their Shipping Protection Plan, which I believe triggers if you buy the mailing label from eBay, appears to cover damage caused in transit to the authenticator. If I have to file a claim, I file it against "Parcel Insurance Plan", presumably a third party. Confusingly, that TOS page goes out of its way to say this "is not an insurance policy, warranty or any type of guaranty."
When buying the mailing label from eBay, a dialog tells me it's insured up to $100, and asks if I want to pay to fully insure it and add signature confirmation. I believe these are both just the USPS services.
Naively, I would think that the Shipping Protection Plan means it's already fully insured and the upsell is unnecessary. At what point do y'all believe that the upsell is a good idea? Have any of you filed a claim under this Shipping Protection Plan and have claims been approved (or denied)?
Edit: Before posting this, I checked the FAQ on shipping but the thread appears to be 12 years old, before eBay's authentication service, and before some of you were born
Viewing a post I removed
Hi. I removed a post because its photo broke a sub rule but I invited the poster to repost without the photo. However, the poster doesn't have the original text and I'm trying to get it back for him. How do I view the removed post? It is not in Queues>Removed and I can't see it anywhere I've looked (desktop browser). In "Mod Log", I see two "Remove post" line items, but I don't see a way to view what was removed. The comments from the post I removed: https://www.reddit.com/r/Veep/comments/1uqqril/comment/owce4rh/
Edit: If it matters, the way I "removed" the post was by tapping X on mobile, to the right of the upvote/downvote/message-count/share widgets.
Won't POST; DRAM light is on in all configurations I've tried
My new build is not POSTing and the mobo's DRAM light is on in all the configurations I've tried. Am hoping I'm overlooking something and I don't have to return or RMA the RAM.
Details: Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Master, Patriot Viper Venom 2x16GB DDR5-6400 RAM, Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU. My first act was to update the BIOS to F20c using the Q-Flash feature before installing the CPU or RAM. This headless update seemed to work, going by the blinking light. After installing the hardware, when I power on, the DRAM light on the motherboard lights up, and a series of hex codes show up on the LED readout on the mobo itself - 76, 3A, 54, they change frequently and I don't see a diagnosis from them. After a few seconds the DRAM light turns off briefly, the CPU light blinks once, and then the DRAM light turns on again, which in my mind means it's restarting on some level and continuing to fail when checking the DRAM.
Things I have tried: Installing the 2 sticks of RAM in the B1 and A1 DIMM slots; installing them in the B2 and A2 slots (in both orders); installing a single stick in B2 (tried with both sticks), installing a single stick in A2 (tried with both sticks). Same symptoms.
Stuff I don't think matters: I've tried an old AMD R9 video card with DVI-out, and have tried DisplayLink out via integrated graphics; no video signal on either one (and I had not figured I'd get a video signal and a POST anyway because the DRAM light is on).
