Please help with my decision paralysis

I Recently got my motorcycle license and did the safety course. I have a very limited budget and it leaves me with basically these options(that I like):

Yamaha V star ,

Kawasaki Vulcan 900,

Suzuki C50,

Honda Shadow.

They are all less than 1000cc and from years 2000-2008. They are all priced between $2000-$4000.(CAD). There are some higher cc bikes available as well but I don't want them as a beginner.

I am typically paralyzed in the face of choices and this decision is hitting me the hardest. Part of me thinks that any one of these bikes would be enjoyable as a new rider and I should just get what fits the budget and get out on the road while the other part of me thinks that this process requires a lot more research and careful selection. Please help me decide.

Here are some of my questions-

  1. If I plan on doing long rides on the weekends, Perhaps a longer camping trip at some point and occasional commuting, which bike should I get out of this?

  2. Most marketplace sellers are willing to accept reasonable offers but I don't know what a reasonable offer for 20-25 yr old machine should be as I have never really bought something that old. Any ideas are helpful

  3. I don't understand much about motorcycles but I think a shaft drive is less maintaince. However, not all the bikes I am looking at are Shafts. Some of them are chain and belt as well... Does this whole drive thing even matter to a new rider or am I overthinking it?

  4. What matters more, bike being more new(er) or kms being less(er) on the odo?

Thank you so much for reading all this and for your help.

Cheers!

Has anyone been to Rave Cave on Bloor st W? How is the vibe?

Basically the title. I am thinking of going to their July 10 event. Usually go alone to events and absolutely love it. I just don't do well if there are very few people or just overall not a good vibe. The idea of 90s themed rave sounds does seem exciting!

What does it even mean to "focus on PR"!?

A bit of a PR rant and cry for help.

As the title says... I am tortured by PR questions. Everyone emphasizes to focus on PR for the solicitor exam but I am just not able to build the skill for PR questions. I know where everything is in the material (for the most part)and yet I absolutely don't know when a question is asking about a specific exception hidden somewhere in the commentary to a specific rule. It sucks that there is no TOC for commentaries or one for just appendix in general.

Can someone please help me with ANY tips whatsoever to get better at PR...... Literally any! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Can't unload packed cargo please help!

EDIT: RESOLVED. Thank you so much y'all. Clearly I am very new to the game and have zero attention to detail lol. Keeping this post incase someone else runs into this issue.

Can't unload these service spare parts. Please help. The cargo was packed and did drive out if the drop off area and back in a couple of times .. but nothing seems to work. It was a long hard drive to the quarry. Sigh.

Give me your best 2 week solicitor plan

pretty much what the title says. Should I be reading summaries for 2 days and drilling questions every day thereafter? Or just a gazillion practice questions everyday starting today with weekends purely for careful PR review? Open to any other plan as I am drawing a blank here ...

How's the actual answer sheet?

Are we shading the right option with a pencil? Do I need sharpeners and an erasor? Any other materials I should be taking?

Sorry if any of this is answered before. It's freakout-o-clock here!

Is there a cheat code for PR rule s and bylaws ?

I seem to be scoring lowest on PR. Especially questions based on bylaws. I try to scvanager hunt for the exact rule/bylaw but commonsense gets in the way and I end up picking the wrong answer option. I haven't read the rules and bylaws in the appendices yet. Is there a quick/hack way of going through them all? Thanks!

Capping at 70% despite best efforts !

Whatever I do, I don't score more than 70% on timed tests. Can anyone out there tell me how good or bad that might be? Thank you 🙏🏻

What is the strategy for this week (barristers)?

I've done a bunch of sample questions. Read the materials. I known what I know and I don't know what I don't know. Form the most part I can find things in the ADTOC or Indices and if not, make an educated guess. Unsure what else to do this week.

What is everyone else doing in the last few days preceding the exam?

Am I the only one destroyed by Emond Advanced set?

Pretty much the title. I have been doing Bricham for a week and getting about 70 -77%. Which I am happy with.

Today I attempted the Emond Advanced barrister question paper in timed conditions. Scored a whopping 50% and finished at the very last minute. I truly feel like there is nothing much I can do to prepare any more than this..I mostly know where all the material is and I can either find the stuff or take an educated guess depending on the question. I understand this is just a practice exam but this particular question paper is making me question my whole life.

Has anyone attempted Emond advanced? Any thoughts at all about this ?

Is it a bad idea to pivot to Solicitors ?

Have read all of Barrister materials and been practicing questions all of this week. Is it bad time to pivot to Soclitors for the weekend? I have read Solicitors before and practiced a few questions earlier this month but I constantly keep freaking out that the two weeks after barrister won't be enough and I might have already forgotten everything I've read.

Any advice helps :)

Recreating Tests conditions

Morning y'all,

I am trying to attempt timed exams by recreating test conditions and had the following questions regarding the same-

  1. What is the average size of the desk? I have about 17 spiral bound books (including all indices, etc). Will there be room to quickly navigate all of them and 'toss' them around?

  2. What is washroom situation like? I have an extremely small bladder and have to pee atleast ever 40-50 questions or so..I already struggle finishing my questions in time and the washroom runs just further add to problem.. How long would it realistically take going to the washroom and back to my desk? Does the exam have any breaks?

  3. Are we allowed calculators? If yes, do they have to be a particular kind?

  4. Can we stand up and stretch mid exam? Constantly sitting for 4.5 hours seems excruciating?

  5. Can we bring a bag or something to carry all the materials to the desk ?

Any help with these queries is much appreciated 🙏🏻

All the best y'all :)

Indices with chapter # instead of page numbers ?

Does anyone know if indices with chapter and section/heading numbers exist?

I am looking at the UFT summaries and it's by page numbers. I feel like since my materials are already tabbed by chapter numbers it would save me some crucial flipping time if I could jump straight to a chapter from the index instead of flipping to a page number...

Any help, helps 🙏🏻

Forgot everything I studied last month.... Pls help.

I am giving both exams in June.

I had studied a bunch of Solicitors in April and also done some sample tests. Then I pivoted to barristers for a couple of weeks. I had planned on spending all of this week doing Solicitors again but as soon as I opened the materials, I am just drawing a big freaking blank!

Nothing whatsoever is coming back to me. It feels like reading everything for the first time. A little surprised at how this is even happening to me and where do I go from here... Does anyone else doing two exams feel this way?

Should I just not to do Solicitors until after the Barrister exam ? It seems like a scary proposition given that it's SO MUCH and I don't enjoy/understand most of it..

Or should I quickly revise all of Solicitors this week and pivot back to extensive Barrister practice for the last 3 weeks of May?

Any ideas or kind words would be very helpful 🙏🏻

How do y'all manage your time on practice (and actual) exams?

If you’re running out of time, do you spend the time and focus on getting a few answers right at the cost of not attempting everything, or try to answer everything even if you’re not sure if any of it would be right?

PS: I known there is a time tracker sheet but I feel like using the tracker adds anxiety and takes away from my focus!

As the title suggests, I have to pick an apartment between Windermere and parklawn asap. Work in downtown. Windermere feels isolated but closer. Parklawn seems like it has atleast a few businesses around but far. Love the lake accessibility from both. I don't drive. Have seen many other apartments downtown but everything in my budget is a tad 'trashy' or not dog friendly or has a hole in the wall for a kitchen (love to cook!).

Please help with any insights on both of these as I need to put an application in a few hours. Thanks :)!
