Warwick or Manchester?

Hi! So I was set to go to Warwick this year for history and politics…but have started having doubts and am wondering whether I should try and go to Manchester through clearing. I already live very close to Warwick and would have liked to move away, but chose it because it was my favourite course. I’m a lesbian and do like to go out (though not too frequently), and am just worried that I won’t get the university experience I’d get in bigger cities that have more queer spaces. Especially after looking at societies, as Manchester had a lot more options. That being said, I do really love Warwick’s course, and when I went to Manchester on the offer holder day I wasn’t entirely drawn to it
(it was initially my top choice, but the introductory session put me off/the uni itself seemed much larger than others).

Does anyone have any experience as a queer student at Warwick or vice versa? Would going to Manchester be equivalent prestige wise to Warwick? Just trying to get some more opinions.

Feel like I messed up my accomodation form

Hi guys, so I applied for accommodation at Warwick yesterday and really regret the decisions I made for the my profile section…I put my hobbies as film/cinema, coffee/restaurants and nightclubs, but I wish I could switch the latter two to board games & pubs/bars as (though I like going out) I mainly put that because I was scared of getting a very quiet flat. I also put that I go to bed 12-2am, as in go to sleep at that time, and go to actual bed around tennish…am I overthinking the fuck out of this pls lmk xoxo I have awful anxiety

I was put under time pressure by my parents as we were going on holiday this week & I had been really ill on antibiotics beforehand, but have already asked to change my accomodation preferences as I realised I would be getting the Warwick Bursary for low income…so I feel like if I send another email I’ll sound like the most indecisive person in the world. Should I send the email or call them or just leave it? I don’t know if it realistically makes much of a difference but I’m having an existential crisis over this for no actual reason because I don’t want to be put with flatmates from hell LMAO

What’s it like studying a language ab initio at University?

I have an offer for German & Politics at the University of Edinburgh and am not sure whether to firm or not, as I’m honestly nervous about how intense it would be & whether my language learning abilities are enough…

My other option is history & politics elsewhere which i feel is the ‘safer’ route but slightly less aligned with what I want in the future

Stay local or move away?

Hi! So my local university is Warwick, which is obviously an amazing uni & I absolutely love the course/campus…but I live in Leamington & most people move here after 1st year so I’m worried I won’t gain the uni experience. Not really nightlife wise, but more so in terms of confidence & independence as I am a really anxious person.

My other option is Bristol, which people keep telling me is less prestigious (they don’t do a history & politics course, so I applied for politics & sociology as I equally enjoyed sociology at a level…though like the sound of this course a little less). Would it be worth it to move away & do a potentially less prestigious course so that I can properly experience the uni ‘lifestyle’ or should I just stay put?

I want to move into halls if I go to Warwick, but people always claim uni is the best time of your life…I don’t want to miss out on that just to spend the rest of my life working, even if it is a slightly ‘better job’.

Is a politics & sociology degree respected?

It was so divided when I asked what I should firm so just want to find more opinions!

Would be from the University of Bristol - hoping to enter marketing, political communications, journalism or political strategy.

Could transfer to an Msci with quantitative methods through the Q step programme?

Which uni should I firm?

I prefer the politics modules at Bristol, but the history modules at Warwick…also live like 20 mins from Warwick at the moment!! (Honestly not sure if that’s a pro or a con).

Ideally hope to get into political strategy, marketing or journalism in the future.
