Title: I’m at the point where I’ll take basically any deployment, Middle East included
I’m seriously trying to get on a deployment, mobilization, or long-term ADOS orders as soon as possible. I’ve had a Tour of Duty application sitting there for over 3 months and absolutely nothing seems to be moving.
At this point I’ll go wherever they need somebody. Kuwait, Saudi, Jordan, Iraq, anywhere in the Middle East. And when I say I want to go somewhere hot, I don’t mean the temperature. I mean somewhere where things are actually happening and there is some level of danger involved.
I’m divorced, I don’t really have anything tying me down right now, and I would honestly rather be somewhere overseas working nonstop, staying alert, and having a mission to focus on than sitting at home thinking about my ex-wife while bills keep stacking up.
I need something that keeps my mind occupied, gives me a purpose every day, and gives me steady income. At this point if somebody called me tomorrow and said they needed a volunteer for a deployment in the Middle East, I would probably have my bags packed before they finished explaining the mission.
For anyone in the USAR who has actually managed to get on orders recently, what is the fastest realistic route? Tour of Duty feels like I’m throwing applications into a black hole.
Should I be calling POCs directly? Contacting units? Looking for ADOS somewhere else? I’m an 11B, but I’m willing to take anything I can reasonably qualify for.
Seriously, if anybody knows of units looking for volunteers, especially for overseas missions, I’m all ears.
