FIRE Plans

I posted about my plans to FIRE in theboglehead subreddit, as a 29 year-old, biglaw
lawyer, with a $235,000 income. So many (I presume men), were butt hurt that I was talking about FIREing only for myself, and not for my husband too. Despite the fact that, I made it clear multiple times that my husband does not even want to FIRE. I presume a lot of them were jealous. But anyways ladies, be careful about who you tell about your FIRE plans. Not everyone is rooting for you.

How quickly can I retire early?

I’m 29, just graduated from law school. No student loans (7 scholarships), car fully paid off, no credit card debt, and living with my husband, who is paying all of the bills (for the next year or so) while I save up.

I’m a big law attorney, and my income will be $235,000 a year starting in September. Plus a $20,000 bonus if I hit my hours.

Current Assets:
$10,000 in a Brokerage
$4,000 in Savings
$35,000 inherited investments
$6,000 from prior 401k

I know that I should contribute the max to HSA, 401k, Roth etc., however I generally do not know how any of this works past that. Where else should I invest my money?

Realistically, is it possible for me to live off of
$30,000 a year, at least for the next 3-4 years? I want to invest as much as I can, and hopefully retire ASAP.

How much are you willing to compromise?

I’m 29 and happily married, but I have a 31 year-old and a 39 year-old sister who are still in the dating world, and come to me with their dating concerns.

What I’ve noticed about my 39 year-old sister, is that she’s very set in her ways and quick to cut off a guy that she’s dating for reasons that I think could be overlooked or maybe worked through.

Meanwhile, my 31 year-old sister, is more likely to try to work things out with a guy that she’s dating. My 31 year-old sister dates men ages 29-41 years old, and the 29-33 year-olds tend to be more willing to work through problems with her whenever they arise vs. the late 30’s to early 40’s crew are quick to cut things off if there seems to be a roadblock. They also seem to be more concerned with how financially established she is (she does well for herself).

So my question is, do people tend to be less willing to compromise as they get older/more picky, even though statically there are less dating options than when you are younger?
