Found a Phillips Discoverer crt

Got my hands on a holy grail of CRTs today. The Phillips discoverer. Isn’t the rgb scart model only the rf model. Not to sure if it works as cords been snipped but the outer shell is in absolutely fantastic shape, no cracks or anything. Couple little scuffs in visor but reckon I can polish it out. I’ve never opened a crt before and honestly don’t have the time to learn at the moment. Would anyone like to have a look at this or could refer me to someone that is knowledgeable on getting sets running, am happy to pay for the repair/diagnoses Like I said is untested and have no idea if the tv works, might just need a new cord and that’s it not sure. but the tube and outer shell is in great condition so leaning towards it being okay.

Located Wollongong area. Am happy to drive upto Sydney though or down the coast. Really want to get this fixed up and running again, so stoked!

Anyone in the Sydney / Wollongong area willing to help fix screen geometry and top border issue on a Sharp SX76NF100 EDTV? Plus help accessing the service menu?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been dialing in my setup on a Sharp SX76NF100 EDTV using component input at native 480p, and the picture clarity is fantastic. However, I’ve hit a roadblock with a persistent framing/black border issue at the top of the screen (especially noticeable on movie menus/overlays).
I'd rather not risk opening the chassis to mess with internal pots, and standard user menus don't have a vertical shift option. And just don’t have the time to learn atm. I've also had trouble trying to get into the service menu without standard remote codes taking.
Is there anyone in the Sydney or Wollongong area with experience handling CRT/EDTV service menus and geometry calibration who would be willing to lend a hand or take a look at it?
Any advice or local connections would be hugely appreciated!

Sharp sx76nf100 stuck in standby mode

Hey, my sharp edtv was working completely fine until my sleep timer shut the tv down and now the tv remote won’t respond at all. Can’t use the front power button either it just turns the standby light on and off. I’ve powered the tv off at the wall holding the power button on tv unit to try and let and power out, but still nothing. Can’t access service menu on this tv either haven’t been able to figure it out. So no button smashing combos have worked. Seems like the internal memory has permanently locked up and is not responding. Anyone know how I can fix this I only just got this screen?

Sharp SX76NF100 EDTV Service Menu / H-POS Alignment Issue

I am trying to fix an uneven horizontal offset on a Sharp SX76NF100 CRT. When displaying content, the black border on the left side is wider than the right, meaning the picture is shifted over to the right.

I need to access the service menu to adjust parameters like H-POS, H-SIZ, V-SIZ, and geometry settings. However, none of the standard methods or button combinations have worked:
Front-Panel Cold Boots: I have tried unplugging the power cord, holding down various button combinations (VOL - & CH +, VOL + & CH -, and VOL + & CH +), and plugging it back in while holding them.

Remote Combinations: Attempting button-smashing sequences on the remote just changes the channels instead of triggering the service menu.
Is there a specific hidden service command for the SX76NF100 chassis, or is this particular regional firmware completely locked out of software geometry adjustments?

Sony Micro-TV Model 5-303E

Sony Micro-TV Model 5-303E

My mother discovered this tucked away in her personal staff cupboard at work where she has worked for nearly 40 years, though nobody knows its history or how long it has been sitting there. I plugged it in, but it shows zero signs of life. Is it worth attempting to get this repaired? It would be incredible to get it working to watch classic black and white films on the small screen.

Looking for Advice on Getting a Sunthar RGB MUX Board Built (Sony Trinitron KV-XG29M30 BG-3)

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to RGB mod my Sony Trinitron KV-XG29M30 (BG-3 chassis) and I’d like to use a Sunthar RGB MUX board.
Unfortunately, the assembled boards seem to be unavailable. Does anyone know of a reputable service or individual who populates these boards, or another good option for a BG-3 chassis?
I’m in Australia, but I’m mainly looking for recommendations or advice on where to go from here.
Thanks!

Panasonic TX-29FG50A power on but screen isn’t posting a picture

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some troubleshooting advice regarding a 29" Panasonic CRT (model: TX-29FG50A ) I picked up recently. It’s been running perfectly, but I ran into an issue today.
My brother turned on this Panasonic and my Sony Trinitron XG-29M30 at the exact same time. The Panasonic screen never initialized; it went from the power-on state to an orange standby light, and then settled into a solid red LED.
The Electrical Context:
The Panasonic was plugged directly into a wall outlet, while the Sony was on a separate surge-protected power board. Crucially, they are connected to the same console "hub" of older systems. I suspect the simultaneous startup triggered a transient spike or a ground loop issue through the signal lines, causing the Panasonic’s protection circuitry to trip.
Essentially, the TV’s logic board detected an anomaly during the startup-load phase and interpreted it as a potential short circuit or failure, causing it to "latch" into protection mode to prevent internal component damage.
My current plan:
I’ve completely isolated the TV by pulling the plug from the wall and disconnecting all AV/signal cables to let the capacitors fully discharge overnight.
I’ll attempt a clean, standalone power-up tomorrow morning with no external peripherals connected.
The question:
If the protection latch doesn’t reset after the full discharge, what are the most common culprits for this model to stay "stuck"? Is this likely a flyback-related trip, or should I be looking at a specific rail on the power supply board?
I’m planning to take it to a professional service center (JVP) if I can’t clear the latch myself, but I’d love to know what to expect before I head in. Any insights would be appreciated!

Looking for an RGB Modder / Mentor in NSW / Wollongong area for a Sony Trinitron KV-XG29M30 (BG-3 Chassis)

Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a fully functioning, 29-inch Sony Trinitron KV-XG29M30 here in Australia. It’s a great set, but it is currently limited to just composite inputs.
From my research, it runs on the BG-3 chassis with the CXA2139S jungle chip, making it an excellent candidate for a direct RGB injection mod via the teletext lines.
I currently have nothing but the bare TV, no modding parts, and zero experience with CRT high-voltage safety or precision micro-soldering. While I am happy to learn the ropes, I know how dangerous discharging a tube can be and how easy it is to bridge tiny pins, so I would much prefer a professional or experienced hobbyist to do the work. I'm also totally open to a "watch and learn" scenario if someone is willing to mentor me through it safely.
Are there any active local modders or tech groups in the Wollongong/Sydney region you'd recommend reaching out to for this chassis? Thanks!
