Has anyone lost hair while having low ferritin but found out it's not from the ferritin?

Lately my hair has been shedding like crazy. I found out my ferritin is 12 and I am in the process of getting infusions. (Completed 2 out of 3 so far)

I am also looking at getting a fibroid removed that might be the cause of the low ferritin.

I am hoping my hair loss will resolve itself if I address the ferritin situation but I keep thinking-- what if it's unrelated? Has anyone chalked up hair loss to low ferritin but it ended up being a different cause?

If you were me, would you do a hysteroscopic myomectomy?

I am in my mid to late 30s- have had low ferritin (iron) for at least 5 years. Since taking oral iron supplement doesn't work well for me, I get iron infusions on an as-needed basis. Other than hair loss, I feel fine.

My periods have always been kind of heavy--- they last about 5 days, with 2 days being very heavy with clotting. They're inconvenient but other than those 2 days, I feel great the rest of the month.

I recently got a new ob-gyn and told him about my low iron and relatively heavy periods--- he had me do an ultrasound which found a 2 cm submucosal fibroid. He suspects this is why my iron keeps dropping. He thinks I should do a hysteroscopic myomectomy without delay before the fibroid grows.

On one hand I am hesitant because I am not in pain and feel great except for maybe 2 days a month where I am not at my best, but still function. I am also not planning on having kids. On the other hand, I am worried it will get bigger and cause more problems later where a minimally invasive option may no longer be feasible.

Has anyone had a situation similar to me? What would you do if you were me- have it now or "wait and see"?

Gynos specializing in fibroids- recommendations!

Not sure if this is the right sub for this, but can anyone recommend a fibroid specialist? Preferably in Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan.

I am mainly looking for a second opinion.

Rush for ABT at the MET OPERA

Please delete if this too off topic but thought this sub might now.

Is it possible to get rush tickets for ballet when it opens up online? Each time I log in 12 PM, it says sold out. Any tips are appreciated!

How is Reason for Female Hairloss Diagnosed?

Hello all,

I have had on and off hair shedding at my temples for many years. I have very low ferritin for many years (border line anemia) and I think that's the cause. I think that's part of the reason for my hair loss. However, I am not sure.

If I go to a dermatologist, would they be able to tell (visually or by doing some type of scalp testing) if my hair loss is due to some skin or alopecia-type issue?

I am aware this is not a thread of doctors, just looking for feedback based on experience.

Thank you!

Is there any point in sharing your own items anymore?

Serious question--- does it still give you any boost to share anything? Poshmark is a figment of what it once used to be.

I am not a full time seller and never had a bot but I used to regularly share my whole closet about 5-6x a day. I would also share other people's items while watching TV etc.

Am I wasting my time if I continue to do this?
