I haven’t felt goth in a long time, can anyone relate?

❌ this could be seen as a bit of a vent post and I briefly mentioned depression so if you don’t like that then yeah

I know this is kinda weird but I was wondering if anyone else has maybe gone though this before and maybe could share their story on how they were able to find themselves again? Idk I’ll explain a bit

I felt a very strong connection to the goth subculture in my later years of high school and early college. I loved finding new music, researching the history, putting outfits together, poetry, film, all the stuff.

I feel like around the start of 2026, my passion and self identity slipped. I stopped putting in effort into my appearance entirely, wearing no makeup and just a shirt and a skirt most days or a simple dress. I stopped doing research and finding new music and art. I still listen to goth music but less than I used to I’ve mainly been listening to the same metal bands I don’t even particularly like all too much at the moment. I feel not very creative. It could be connected to mental health challenges I’ve had with severe depression this year but idk. I’ve gotten a lot better in recent months with my mental health, I know things will never be gone or perfect but I got professional help and began medication that I feel helped me a lot. I got a lot of things back then I lost in my depression but I don’t feel like I’ve gotten my “gothness” back.

I know this may sound like I was just a goth tourist and I grew out of it but thats really not the case- the gothic lifestyle and essence is something I’ve always felt connected to my entire life even as a child I just didn’t know what it was fully. Despite not feeling like it’s part of my identity right now I know it is I still have a deep admiration for it.

If anyone has maybe gone though anything similar and has advice I’d appreciate it 🖤

Did I stop too late?

A little bit ago I made a post asking if something was a scam on a different sub Reddit, it was. I think i stopped before it was too late, but I wanna ask some clarification questions. It might sound stupid I just have a lot of anxiety.

For context, someone was going to send me money over PayPal, in fact, on his end he did and he sent a screenshot showing it was sent, but I never saw anything on my end after an hour. Then I found out it was a scam and blocked him and deleted my PayPal and made a new one. I never sent or received anything. The only information I gave was my paypal @. I guess my question is am I safe now? I am worried there will somehow still be a send back on my end. I would really appreciate anything, I’m really scared. Thank you

How to you tell your parents about this

I’m 20 and have been with my online boyfriend for five years, and he will be coming to visit me for two weeks in a couple months. We meet in 2020 though games and talk on discord, he lives in another country- ik the classic. Everything is booked and confirmed- problem is I haven’t told my parents. He has been open with his parents from the start, I haven’t, which I know is my fault. My mom doesn’t really believe in online love, she doesn’t believe it’s possible to fall in love with someone without seeing them in person first. She has always been judgmental of this kinda relationship. She also doesn’t see my close long term online friends as real connections, and will always seen them as less than my irl friends. My dad hasn’t really spoken on the subject of online dating, he is more accepting of my and my brother having online friends and actually treats them like real connections unlike my mom, but I’m still scared to tell him, but probably to a lesser extent.

Basicallyy, to anyone that might have been in a situation like this, or anyone who sees this that might have general advice on how to approach the situation, I’d love hearing advice. Us meeting never really felt real until everything has been booked, and now I know I have to do this. Thank you

How to cope with scam

A couple weeks ago I lost $500 to a scam. I know it's my fault and I'm stupid for it- but I'm having such a hard time moving on in life, I swear I haven't been able to sleep properly since. I already contacted my bank and authorities and understand there's no getting my money back- but I at least want my life back.

I know there’s worse things in the world and honestly I have even experienced worse things in life as someone and have my own psychological problems but for some reason this event just hasn’t left my mind

For context I feel for a fake check scam. I was sent a check, then pressured and threatened to return the money, however since the check was fake all I did was loose $500. I am fortunate that I am in a position were I don't need to pay rent or for food since I'm 20 and live with my parents, so this isn't gonna kill me. All it did was eat at the money I need for college, but still | can't get it off my mind. My job as been giving me less hours as well so I'm so scared about how I can fix this before school. I've only told two people about it because I'm so ashamed about it. They were kind and
understanding and didn't dwell on the fact that it's my fault but still how are you even supposed to continue with life? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who was a victim of something similar and how to navigate it, or anyway was general insight
