I've purchased a stepdown transformer, it's listed output is 100v, however, when I measured it this evening I was getting 118v. When I measured the voltage straight from the socket I got 244v, which is 14v above what it should be. I'm guessing this is just normal fluctuation, but I'm hesitant to plug my turntable into the transformer.
Would this voltage risk damaging my turntable?

My girlfriend lives in Italy, and we're currently toying with the idea of me moving over there on a student Visa to study Italian. My biggest concern is getting employed after I'm done studying. I'm not a "highly skilled" worker, but my hope would be to potentially get an entry level IT support role or something similar. How difficult is it to find an employer willing to sponsor a Visa?
