If this is our 2028 matchup then it really seems the battle is over before it even started.

AOC may appeal to the far left tankie echo chamber of this website, but she is absolutely too far left for most US voters.

Ironically the DSA thinks she's not far-left enough & would probably find a reason to throw her candidacy under the bus like they did for Kamala (how'd that work out for y'all, fam?)

By contrast, Rubio appeals to a much larger demographic, both among whites and latinos, as well as Centrist Dems who see AOC's flirtations with the DSA as ideologically dangerous.

Also he outmatches her international / geopolitical experience due to his tenure as the Secretary of State. I do not think she has demonstrated a firm mastery in that domain at all.

Overall I welcome our first Latino president, but I have the feeling that as unlikeable as Gavin Newsom might be to most warm-blooded Americans, he has a much better chance of besting Rubio in the polls than Reddit's newly-single liberal darling.

Mostly it feels like Hollywood's idea of a Jew is at best goofy and harmless, from Mel Brooks & Woody Allen to Jerry Seinfeld & Larry David to Seth Rogan & Jonah Hill.

Every single movie or tv show is either about getting pummeled by the horror of the Shoah or about being a whiny bourgeois wimp.

Adrien Brody's last big movie was literally about getting sodomized by his rich white boss, played by Guy Pearce, who wore a Free Palestine pin to the Oscars that year. So demonically gross to see.

I wish I had more films and shows to watch about Jewish STRENGTH. Can only watch Munich so many times, starring famous Jewish actors Eric Bana & Daniel Craig (/s) or that recent movie about Ethiopia starring Chris Evans as the least-convincing Mossad agent of all time.

Gal Gadot playing Wonder Woman bucks the trend, I guess. She certainly isn't popular here on Reddit among the DSA tankie "antizionists." Harrison Ford & Kirk Douglas, despite being leading men of their time, never leaned into particularly Jewish roles. Indiana Jones has a canonically Scottish, grail-chasing father, FFS.

Anyway I know "Jewish Hollywood" is a huge trope & often the source of antisemitic conspiracy theory, but it's just disappointing how many Jews in Hollywood have mined our culture for punchlines (cough LARRY DAVID cough) for shekels without any kind of consideration for the impact of their caricatures.

My mother is deceased and all documentation is a dead end, but my father is actually a semi-famous Jewish entertainer. He's even been interviewed about his Jewish identity in the Times of Israel.

That said, he's a sadistic narcissist and I've been no-contact with him for many years. Reaching out to him for assistance (getting his apostilled birth certificate + his mother's birth certificate) would 100% end in him hurting me somehow, in some devestating way.

I'm talking to his sister, my aunt, about getting a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate, but how do I effectively establish myself as my father's son without going anywhere near him?

I've been on a liver & onions kick, but I'm visiting Israel right now & my orthodox friends say that you need to broil the hell out of liver to make it kosher, which is how it ends up tasting over-metallic & losing the softness of a gentler cook.

So like a good shomer shabbas I've been googling & chatGPT'ing looking for the loophole in the halacha where I can make more of a French style chicken liver while meeting the kashrut of "cooking over an open flame" ...

So tell me if this sounds crazy: Instead of using a conventional home broiler or other heavyhanded open flame, would it be acceptable to use a butane kitchen torch (like is used for creme brulee) to cook the livers to doneness without overcooking them?

Do they have to be wholly grey from the center throughout? Is there no room for a spot of pinkness/redness in the center as is the standard (goy) metric for whether or not they are overcooked?

Has anyone else stressed out about liver & onions as much as I have? I'm just looking to dial in a recipe my kosher friends wouldn't turn their noses up at, ya feel me?
