No fax after printer was shutdown

Hi All,

Not sure if someone can help but. My client has Xerox C625, they had to use another printer while waiting on the supplies, they shut down that Xerox. When they plugged everything back, fax quit working.

There is a RJ 11 cable coming out from wall, it splits into 2 female jaks, one goes to the machine (fax line), one seats unplugged. I think the 2^(nd) RJ 11 is from their legacy analog telephone that they no longer use.

Anyway, I’ve tried both wires. When I plug that 2^(nd) free RJ 11, the printer complains about fax communication error on the dashboard, but when I plug what I think is the fax line, error goes away but still no fax.

I called their ISP (fax provider), they don’t see any issue on their end, I’ve rebooted everything else along the lines.

My last resort is calling a cable tech to check the wires regardless.

But if anyone can suggest something else!?

Thank you.

Small influx of failed client VPN connections

I had to fight with those types of failures for the last few days. Anyone else? My clients are all on Win 11 Pro and using built-in clients. I’m seeing lots of x.x.x.x sent termination request (Peer not responding) – Meraki log and error code 789 in Windows event logs, ID 20227. Those clients all sync Meraki to AD so affected users’ credentials coming from an AD.

To my surprise, nothing helped by physical troubleshooting on the user’s end and most of those cases were resolved by themselves.

MSP ready cooling solutions

Hi All,

What do you use to cool small server rooms?

I'm looking for something with NIC and webserver for stats and reporting, if this exists.

I see them with caster and small fridge size, I like this form factor!

Thanks.

Dell server CPU # voltage is outside of range alert

Hi all,

Have you ever seen this error on your Dell servers? I’m not sure if this is hardware or firmware issue.

Usually prior to this event, the client loses power and then server cannot be powered on again. I either need to remove power supplies and drain the power or in some rare cases, I needed to remove DIMM’s and reconnect. Then it starts okay.

More details on errors seen from iDRAC console:

The system board fail-safe voltage is outside of range.

CPU 1 M23 VTT PG voltage is outside of range.

CPU 1 M01 VTT PG voltage is outside of range.

CPU 1 M01 VDDQ PG voltage is outside of range.

CPU 2 VCORE PG voltage is outside of range.

The system is PowerEdge T430, BIOS, iDRAC are on the latest versions.

Can it be RAM, PSU or settings or hardware failure?

TIA.

Advise on PPF'ed car. How do I detail after the main wash phase?

Hi guys,

I have my new Civic Si, I’ve covered many critical panels with PPF (Expel), roughly 55% is covered by the PPF.

I want to achieve whole body protection + shines (body and wheels), I normally wash it with PH neutral car shampoo, few times a month.

  • Do I use PPF ceramic sealant during/after each wash and wax on the PPF part?
  • For rest of the car without PPF, do I use different product with similar properties but not for PPF?

Or are those waxes universal?

I think for the wheels, I will just wash them/degrease them and simply buff with some wheel wax.

Thanks.

EDR still flagging ScreenConnect for a revoked cert - cloud-hosted instance

Hi guys,

I’m probably missing something obvious here. But is there a fix for cloud-hosted and revoked certificate issue from last year’s fiasco?

My EDR constantly flags SC client as a potential virus (not a virus of course but due to the cert). It even flags DellSupportAssistRemedationService signed with that revoked cert for some reason.

I’ve re-installed client but didn’t help. I wonder if I must perform deeper cleaning involving the registry to force it to use new certificate?

Let me know if you resolved similar issue.

DellSupportAssistRemedationService.exe nonstop alerts (Windows 11)

Hi guys,

Does anyone know an effective way to shut them down/exclude? My MSP mostly sells Dell equipment and for some time now my S1 shoots those alerts no matter what I do. So far, I’ve done the following: excluded by hash, vendor, mitigated. Nothing helps!

Strange part that it shows vendor as ConnectWise, instead of Dell. I use ConnectWise ScreenConnect for remote assistance.

Here is the description of the alert:

The alert identifies a suspicious executable named A0DCF3A5D776E1452B7B5C0E0028B52F1A727DB2.exe located in a Dell SupportAssist remediation backup directory under ProgramData. The file is signed with a revoked certificate issued by CONNECTWISE, LLC, raising trust concerns. It was executed by the DellSupportAssistRemedationService.exe process running as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Each alert has a unique string before an .exe. Virus Total reveals nothing if looked by that .exe hash value.

What do I do to stop those alerts? What exclusion would you recommend?

TIA.

Xiaomi hyperos 3 phone inconsistent VPN work + Sberbank issues

Hi all,

I'm helping my in-law with VPN on her phone from Russia. It's Redmi with hyperos 3.

I set VPN profile always on and block internet when it's off. I've put all permissions for the app AmnVPN, I've also put it into autostart list. Inside the app I set her Russian banks to bypass VPN. Power setting was set not to shut the app.

Despite all above I observe the following issues:

If the phone was locked for a while it won't ring from the telegram, WhatsApp apps. When I unlock it and call again, it works as it should.

Another issue is her bank apps. If I put block internet without VPN, it won't open at all. Banks apps set to not use VPN - split tunnel.

It feels like there is some power saving setting that messes with VPN when phone is locked.

I've never dealt with these Chinese brands before. Does anyone know how to fix those things?

I'm planning to switch her to trustworthy Samsung if I can't fix it.

Tnx.
