Lying on your CV

Obviously, we all present ourselves in the "best light", but over the last few weeks

Daily Mail on X: "... jailed over serial NHS fraud: 'Walter Mitty' used fake Oxford degree to land senior roles before swindling taxpayers out of £170k by claiming sick leave for 'tiredness' and 'anxiety' https://t.co/rTw7Ont0dJ" / X

- claimed to work jobs he didnt

- instantly called in sick

- took years to catch

- some whoppers of CV lies too, aside from a fake degree, fake military service...

Cambridge are investigating Arday, which has dominated news

"So I was only at Crystal Palace for a handful of years….”

Just to illustrate another new-to-me claim from Arday... thats so easy to check. Thought it isn't the most absurd that still has to be his 7up claim.

And of course our late chancellor,

Questions raised over Rachel Reeves’s CV and expenses after BBC investigation - BBC News

--

Im not trying to make politics out of it, but ironically all three have stood for the Labour Party, IDK perhaps the Tory Party's "fake it till you make it generation" has been kept out by incumbents until 2024 - who knows

But points of discussion beyond the cases?

Where is the ethical line for CVs / public profiles etc?

Why is this more of an occurrence seemingly now?

How to restore standards in public life / society broadly?

Ben Houchen on X: "So devolution means getting people's taxes to spend but not being allowed to give it back to them 🤷‍♂️ Last time I spoke to the PM, devolution was about whitehall not dictating what areas can or can’t do. Doesn’t sound much like devolution to me? Just an excuse for a tax grab"

Should all major parties stand down and let *this* byelection be Reform vs Binface?

And stand presumably in the second byelection when the corruption investigation concludes
