I hate seeing the same shitty ass mace meta videos online everywhere. Are there any way to counter mace (especially elytra-mace) except for using crystals or another mace?

Hi guys, I'm relatively new to pvp here and want to get better. There's a lot of turotials/tips on Youtube, but I don't know how to practice and sharpen my skills on my own. I tried just fighting a bunch of people on servers, but my opponents are often much better than me which resulted in me getting smoked all the time. I received little to no improvement. What are the best ways to get better at pvp considering I am really bad at the game? Please help thx

TLDR: I'm really bad at pvp and want to improve, but fighting people on servers aren't helping because I'm horrible and get destroyed every time
