Adrenalin Broke My 6950 XT

This is not a post requesting help. I’m just stating what happened to me so others are aware.

Yesterday after making changes to my PC (smaller PSU and I powered it on, set my OC on my GPU that has been stability tested probably over 100 times by myself using multiple tests (FurMark and 3DMark) and I’ve been using for years. I played a few games of CS2 and shutdown my PC. A few hours later I return home and while playing Spider-Man 2 I noticed my GPU-Z was showing my GPU hotspot temp at 98° which is not normal. I paused the game and opened Adrenalin to figure out what was going on and I found that my fan curve was not applied and was instead set to 35% regardless of temperature which is not what I saved it as in my OC profile, but all of my other OC settings were normal. I reapplied the OC which applied my fan curve, but by that time (less than 10sec) the hotspot temp jumped to 113° and my PC crashed with my second monitor turning green in the process. A crash I’ve never had with this card before. My system will now crash in the same fashion randomly when opening games, adjusting video settings in games, or during gameplay. My card is probably on its way out now which is really sad because I love this card and it has treated me well up until this point. Unfortunately, I will likely go to NVIDIA after this as I have had far too many issues with Adrenalin acting similarly and now it has cost me my GPU entirely.

TLDR; Adrenalin didn’t apply my GPU OC fan curve but kept all other OC settings when PC booted causing 113° hotspot while gaming and now PC crashes due to damaged GPU.

Edit: Smaller PSU meant going from ATX 1000W to SFX 1000W and I also added 2 new fans. No issues when gaming before and ran multiple stress tests after changes to confirm stability prior to gaming.

Finally Finished

Finally did the last changes I wanted with my build in this case.

Changed PSU to a Corsair SF1000 from Corsair RM1000x (2015), bought a SFX PSU bracket and dual 120mm front fan bracket from Etsy. I know I didn’t need to for my build, but it’s what I wanted to do to finish it entirely.

Components:
MOBO: TUF B850M-Plus WiFi
CPU: 7800X3D
RAM: T-Create 32GB 6000 cl30
GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6950 XT
PSU: Corsair SF1000
SSD: WD Blue SN570 500GB, TeamGroup MP44L 1TB, Seagate FireCuda 1TB
