>The National Executive Committee has agreed to the following for the forthcoming election for Leader of the Labour Party, following Prime Minister Keir Starmer announcing his intention to resign. Keir Starmer will remain Leader of the Labour Party and Prime Minister until the election has concluded.

  • 25 June: Freeze date for elector eligibility Members who joined on or before 25 December 2025 are eligible to vote.

  • 9 July: PLP nominations stage begins Members of the PLP may nominate themselves or one other member of the PLP.

  • 13 July: PLP hustings Prospective candidates take part in a PLP hustings.

  • 15 July: PLP nomination stage ends Nominations close at 18:00.

  • 15 July: Affiliate nominations stage begins Nominations for affiliated trade unions and socialist societies open at 18:00.

  • 16 July: Affiliate nominations stage ends Nominations close at 18:00.

  • 17 July: Leadership special conference Held if only one candidate and they are validly nominated.

  • 20 July: CLP nominations stage begins If one or more candidates validly nominated by the PLP still require nominations, CLPs nominate.

  • 31 July: CLP nominations stage ends Nominations close at 17:00.

  • 6 August: Ballot opens Members and affiliated supporters cast their votes electronically.

  • 27 August: Ballot closes The ballot closes at 17:00.

  • 29 August: Leadership Special Conference Announcement of result if contested.

Interactive Archive of Peter Mandelson’s Emails and Chats

Hey folks. I finished the first version of this fun little project. I took the Peter Mandelson files, which was in the form of 1,500 pages across three pdf documents, and turned them into a more interactive website.

If you've not already looked at the files, you can have fun searching for the amount of work he undertook trying to be elected as Chancellor of the University of Oxford...

There's probably a few more bugs in the system which need ironing out. But if you spot anything, please comment here and I'll try and fix it.

The major hurdle is my python is *terrible* and I was using that to parse the documents into Json!

I posted my pre-election analysis on gender and the local elections back in April, and have updated the data here.

While the political cycle is focused on the by-election, I still thought this was interesting!
