Healthy Skin Barrier

We’re all guilty of this, the moment acne shows up, we go into attack mode. We start using stronger actives, layer more products because we want faster results.

Sometimes, our skin isn’t breaking out because we need more actives, it’s breaking out because our barrier is compromised.
When our skin barrier is damaged, everything starts going downhill, and adding more actives only makes it worse.

Our skin barrier is literally our skin’s defense system. When it’s strong, our skin can tolerate actives, heal faster, and stay balanced. When it’s weak, even the best ingredients can backfire.
Focusing on barrier repair doesn’t mean we stop treating acne, it means our main focus is healthy skin barrier.

Instead of overloading our routine, we should shift our focus to:
-Gentle cleansing (no stripping)
-Hydrating, soothing layers (think centella, panthenol, ceramides)
-A solid, boring moisturizer that actually supports our skin
-Being consistent, not aggressive

Once our barrier is healthy again, our actives will actually start working better.
Real skin progress isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what our skin actually needs.

I’ve previously used tretinoin, and honestly, it completely wrecked my skin barrier. Since then, I switched to retinal, and my skin has been doing really well. Now I’m considering slowly transitioning to tazarotene, but I’m a bit cautious after my experience with tret. My aunt couldn’t tolerate Tret, but Taz has been working tremendously well for her.

For those who’ve tried both:

Did you tolerate tazarotene better than tretinoin?

Which one gave you better results?

How did you incorporate taz into your routine without damaging your barrier?

Would love to hear your experiences and any tips

before I make the switch.

I’ve officially been using Celimax Retinal Shot for more than a year, and I felt like I had to share because the results have been incredible. My skin texture and overall glow are at a level I honestly didn’t think was possible for me.

The Purge/Transition: I had an initial purge for around 1-2 months.

My skin looks incredible now. It really helped with acne, acne marks, pigmentation and glow.

I wrote a much more detailed breakdown of the ingredient science on my blog for anyone who wants the full deep dive:

Has anyone else tried Celimax Retinal shot? I’d love to hear if you had the same experience.

Disclaimer: This post is for educational purpose only. I started tret for well-aging purpose, but it wrecked my skin barrier, that’s why I started with retinal. I didn’t have acne when I started tret.
