scraping expired restaurant menu QR code subdomains for delivery traffic

small local restaurants switch POS systems all the time and forget to renew their custom digital menu subdomains, leaving thousands of laminated QR codes on physical dining tables pointing to dead URLs.

a guy built a tool that checks domain registration status on local restaurant menu links found in google maps reviews. when a menu subdomain expires, he buys it for $10 and sets up a clean redirect to a third-party food delivery affiliate page. he collects steady commission checks every time a diner scans the table code to check lunch specials.

A successful first date conversation happens when you ask them about themselves.

When you match or meet someone on a dating app and want to have a deeper relationship with them, don't get too forward with them. Instead, ask questions about them. Try to get to know them better by asking basic things, like their interests, likes and dislikes.

People, especially when it comes to dating, want someone who will get to know them better rather than someone who is too forward. It’s okay to take things as slowly as possible rather than rushing into things when the connection isn't actually building. Another thing that helps is actually listening to what they say instead of just waiting for your turn to talk.

If they mention something they're into, ask a follow-up question without making it feel like an interview. It shows you're paying attention to what they are sharing.

The key to a successful first date conversation is simple talk, being curious and getting to know each other. The connection will build on its own if you give it time.

The buy-side skill nobody puts on their resume

One thing I’ve noticed is that knowing when not to invest seems just as important as finding a great investment.

There will always be another interesting company, another hot sector, and another deal that looks like an opportunity. But being able to walk away when the risk/reward doesn't make sense is a skill too.

Got hired as a "rent-a-friend" for boring errands for a day

My job was basically to accompany someone to IKEA, wait in line, carry bags, and occasionally say, "Yeah, I think that looks good."

Honestly, easiest money I've ever made. 😂

Turns out some people don't need help with the errand… they just don't want to be alone while doing it.

Best way to prepare for sell-side interviews?

For those who have landed roles in Investment Banking, Equity Research, or Sales & Trading, what helped you the most?

Books? Mock interviews? Financial modeling? Keeping up with the news?

I'd appreciate any advice.😊

90% of AI readiness is data readiness. The models is the easy part

Most AI projects don't fail because the model isn't powerful enough.....they fail because the data is messy, duplicated, outdated, or poorly organized.

Why ai search is only as good as its retrieval

Lesson I learned is that most AO search failures aren't caused by the LLM, but rather caused by poor retrieval. A good search pipeline combines: we crawling, indexing, retrieval, ranking, and AI reasoning.

Tools like Exa, Tavilt, etc. each solve different parts of this pipeline. Picking the right one depends on your use case, not hype.

what's your biggest challenge with AI search?

Also me, 3 hour later:

what's one things Claude taught you that you didn't expect?

Does a small following actually matter for UGC???

So, I'm a creator mainly in instagram. and I just noticed that brands care so much about follower counts when some of the most authentic content comes from smaller creators. Honestly, I don't have a huge audience. No viral page. No six-figure following.

But as a UGC creator, that's never really been the point.

Brands aren't always looking to borrow your audience, they're looking to borrow your perspective. They want content that feels like it came from a real person, not a polished ad. In some ways, having a smaller account can even be an advantage. You're closer to the average customer, which can make your content feel more relatable. I'm curious how others see it.

Have you ever felt discouraged by your follower count, only to realize it mattered less than you thought?

Hot take: I'd Rather Get 1,000 YouTube Views Than 100,000 TikTok Views

Not because YouTube is better.

But the more I learn about content creation, the more I wonder if YouTube is being overlooked.

In YouTube, intent is different. A lot of viewers are actively looking for something. They searched for it. They wanted it. That makes me wonder if YouTube is one of the most underrated opportunities for UGC creators and brands right now.

Would you rather have reach or intent?
