A successful first date conversation happens when you ask them about themselves.

When you match or meet someone on a dating app and want to have a deeper relationship with them, don't get too forward with them. Instead, ask questions about them. Try to get to know them better by asking basic things, like their interests, likes and dislikes.

People, especially when it comes to dating, want someone who will get to know them better rather than someone who is too forward. It’s okay to take things as slowly as possible rather than rushing into things when the connection isn't actually building. Another thing that helps is actually listening to what they say instead of just waiting for your turn to talk.

If they mention something they're into, ask a follow-up question without making it feel like an interview. It shows you're paying attention to what they are sharing.

The key to a successful first date conversation is simple talk, being curious and getting to know each other. The connection will build on its own if you give it time.
