Arburg, Krauss Maffei, or something else?

Looking into buying my first machine, used. Which brand would you recommend?

A machine that will last is obviously important, but so is ease of use.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Recommend an opensource robot arm?

I’m looking to 3D print a robot arm and was hoping the community might suggest one to choose.

Ideally, it is:

  • fully open source, including PCBs and can be 3D printed.
  • Is very smooth and can do relatively precise tasks. Quite would be very nice too.
  • Provides the necessary files to work with Isaac Sim.
  • Is widely used, ideally in schools / universities.

These are all ideals, so if some of them can’t be met that’s okay.

Thank you!

Any open source drill press gantry?

Are there any diy “open source” implementation of something like this? I’d like to build this, but I’m not qualified to start from scratch and would love to follow a guide. The base plate moves in the y axis, and the screwdriver moves in the x and z axis. Thanks for the help.

Qasr Salah

Quick question. If I’ve returned home from being abroad, and I’m not going to be home for more than 2 or 3 days before going abroad again, do I pray Qasr at home or full? What is the ruling according to Syed Sistani?

Most suggestions seem to rightly focus on grind size as the main driver of extraction.

But what people’s experience once that’s already in a good place.

How much do you find yourself adjusting other variables, especially for different origins or cultivars? Factors like:

  • ratio / water volume
  • temperature
  • flow rate or contact time
  • bloom time / bloom volume
  • steep time

Do these make a meaningful difference for you? Do you think we need to adjust these depending on the coffee (origin, roast level)?

I can taste a difference between coffees, but I don’t know if this is real or just my imagination.

Curious how others approach it.
