Just found some BANGERS at the Goodwill right before closing

Got there shortly before they closed and spotted Spaceballs on their vhs shelf (I’ve been looking for one for months), then I noticed all of the other bangers there. That cassette adapter is motorized and works, first one I’ve seen.

Did I miss any other bangers that I need to go back tomorrow for?

Just finished organizing the 700 tapes I got!

It took me HOURS to organize the 700 tapes I got for $10. I organized them all by genre, of course, and then spent a lot of time fitting them into the best sized drawers and organizers depending on how many I had of that genre.

Some fun stats:

Largest genres: Blanks (63), Country (62) (does not include western, bluegrass, or blues/country rock), Pop (45) (does not include traditional pop, teen pop, or pop rock), and Pop Rock (40)

Smallest genres: Polka (1), Bluegrass (2), Reggae (4), and Progressive Rock (5)

Top 3 Artists: The Statler Brothers (13), Neil Diamond (8), and Billy Joel (7)

Honorable Mentions: Frank Sinatra (6 cassettes and 2 VHS), ABBA (4 cassettes and 2 VHS), and the Yankovics (1 Weird Al VHS and 1 Frankie cassette)

Coolest Tape: The Carpenters-Close To You, it has a sliding case like a baseball case. Super hard to open and impractical, but still cool.

Favorite Tape: Pac-Man Fever by Buckner and Garcia

Missing but really wanted: Tears for Fears

And yes, that black 57 Chevy IS a VHS rewinder

I discovered a very small obscure thrift store near where I live, that’s only open 4 hours a week by a few old ladies. I found them last week and gave them my info for if they ever receive any cassettes (or other things I like). They messaged me and said they’ve got these for $5! (Including the basket) I think there’s some pretty good stuff in here

Found this baby at a yard sale for $5! I’ve wanted one of these for so long. I thought it was awesome that you gotta press the license plate to open it, then I put a tape in to rewind and the headlights LIGHT UP WHILE REWINDING

I hit up a large lot of sellers along my local 100 mile yard sale today, and saw this beauty! It was with some other tech, they said it was untested, and I could have it for $5. I didn’t have much hope, but figured it’d be fine if at least just the tv portion worked.

Well, this beauty is completely functional, WITH A REMOTE! This is my first crt with a working matching remote.

Vcr is perfect, dvd player perfect, all tv buttons perfect. I is happy.

Got this at Goodwill today for $15. I just tested it, and everything powers on alright, but the tape deck part doesn’t work.

When you press play or ff or rw, you can hear a motor running but nothing happens. Same thing on both deck A and deck B. My guess would be maybe something rubber band related? I’m not entirely sure.

I don’t mind opening it up and figuring it out if it’s an easy fix, but if it’s not, like if soldering is required or something, or if this deck just isn’t worth it, please let me know! I’m fairly new to this

So I finally finished sorting out all of the moldy tapes from the clean ones from my post the other day about all the tapes I got at a yard sale for $10!

Out of 895 total tapes, 202 had mold on the tape, or enough dust to be unsure about it. That’s like only 22%, so not bad at all.

Images 4-7 are all the moldy ones. Since I’m new to this, I’m not sure what I should do with them. Should I try to save all of them? Some of them? Which ones? If not, would someone buy the whole box, or do I throw them away? Or salvage cases and throw just the tapes away? Let me know!

It’s sealed. Found this in the massive lot I posted about yesterday, but I can’t seem to find any info on this tape, and there’s nothing else like it in the lot. The writing is printed, not hand-written. Whatever it is, it’s at least about 30 years old, like all the other tapes (would be weird if it wasn’t)
