Why am I getting obliterated by the doomsayers

Hello all!

I've been attempting to do a three challenge run with no cores, apocalyptic whiteout as well as venturers.

More specifically, i'm aiming at following venturers utopia, with a foragers, thinkers and merchants start on the Breach of trust mountain map.

I am absolutely getting WRECKED.

Never enough manpower for exploration.

Doomsayers appear on week 100 and just cut my workforce by 25%. I don't even have a single guard station up. Perhaps it's because my map doesn't have much coal/ressources, but i'm basically getting WHACKED.

Anyone got any build orders or tips? Doomsayers have by FAR been my biggest challenge of all tales on captain difficulty.

How the FUCK do people do 5 tales on captain. Or perhaps, is my map particularly bad for this?

Thank you for your time!

What people without BED don't understand is that you sometimes revert to an animal-like state. The food-thought precedes the reflexive thought (thinking about the fact that you're thinking about food)

Hello everyone.

I am a recovering BED individual. Whilst I don't binge as much, and I can stop, I DO still have intense cravings that I have to satisfy.

Whilst thinking about my cravings, I came across an interesting thought. Many people who do NOT suffer from BED or craving disorders think it's a question of willpower.

"How about, you just don't eat?"

But this is where they're wrong. "Just don't eat" or "Just do this or that" But all these pieces of "advice" assume that you have the rational capacity to do so.

Except we do not.

Thinking back on my high-school philosophy classes, I remember teacher talking about "thought" and "thought of thought". Us humans are supposedly the only livings beings that think about our thoughts.

An animal is thirsty. They have an impulse to go and drink. They drink.

A human can identify the fact that they are thirsty, and are thinking about water. This opens up a larger window of reflection "how thirsty am I? Why am I thirsty? Should I satisfy this first or wait a bit? With what should I satisfy this thirst?"

This made me understand that when it comes to my cravings, I am actually more like an animal because the "thought of the thought" comes AFTER the primary "thought".

In the shower for example, I can sometimes becomes the subject of an intense craving for cake. I'm already thinking about the moment i'll be stepping out of the shower, dressing myself and walking to the bakery. It sometimes takes me five additional minutes (still in the shower) to realised : "wait? I was actually thinking about cake for a whole five minutes and I didn't even realise." It is only THEN that the struggle and impulse control come into play. But for a full five minutes I was 100% going to buy that cake.

Adjacent to that, it makes me realise that this happens waaay more often than I actually thought it did. When walking the streets of Paris, my gaze automatically gets drawn to the bakeries without realising. I'm already thinking about the type of pastry i'd like to buy and eat, even before telling myself "actually no, walk on". Food literally just emerges from the depths.

If i see an antique shop that I do NOT give a fuck about, it doesn't even register on my radar. It's a /ignore. But when it comes to bakeries or restaurants, they have a sort of attractor, that draw my attention, like a magnet, even BEFORE i am conscious of the mechanism at play.

I wanted to write this piece, because no, others simply WON't understand the food noise, and the primal-like state that we (or I a t least), find myself in.

Does this imply what I think what it implies?

Hello all!

I stumbled upon this event!

I am quite curious about your opinions. Whilst we agree that nothing is explicit, I understand this officer as being gay or in the closet. The anonymous "aide" reinforces that idea. We, of course, don't know the gender of the aide, but the way it is presented as "they were roomates" suggests that they are partners.

This remains, of course, my personal interpretation. But going down the faithkeeper "tradition" route, it actually makes sense that homosexuality would be shunned.

Mandatory marriage and procreation!

What are your thoughts?

I'm playing fractured utopias. I've put me legionnaires in an internment camp and now they're all gone. Did they die? Did I miss something?

Hello! A noob requires some help!

Good morning everyone!

I finished FP1 two years ago and i'm finally ready to hop into FP2.

This is my first playthrough. I have just started the colonisaiton of Winterhome (rebuild Winterhome). I am facing things which render me VERY confused.

Winterhome is immediately labelled as "toxic" with "severe" levels of gasses. Half the time, people are dying before i can even frostbreak my first batch of tiles. Disease is at bonkers levels. I don't even have the time to build ONE bloody housing district+hospital and people are already dropping.

Am I doing something wrong? Are deaths from fumes unavoidable? Are desertions unavoidable? I'm also a little confused as to what counts as "toxic area" and what is NOT toxic. Are the crevasses more toxic than other tiles or not? Or does it depend on whether you're inside/outside the red circle.

I've tried to reset this part three times already and I feel overwhelmed. I don't mind losing people, but i want to be in control, that i am making an active decision to be unsafe. Here, first thing I do is attempt to frostbreak safely, build a housing district+hospital+build at least one fume purifier thing, and people still drop like flies. WHAT am I supposed to do?

Without spoiling, could you offer guidance/tell me if I'm doing something wrong?

Thank you very much!

I'm going to try alliance for the first time ever, without obvious spoils, what should I be weary of? (No spoils! cryptic hints only!)

Good morning everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well.

I started WoW little over a year ago in hardcore, and I have had a blast on the horde. However, with a dwindling horde population on Soulseeker, I want to see how it is leveling on the alliance side.

What should I be careful of?

Don't spoil the experience, but DO drop cryptic hints!

For example, on the horde, i'd say:

-The skull has more than one soul claimed ->beware skull rock (it isn't obvious, because it could reference the name of a place, an object, or a quest)

-A thousand times a thousand lives, breathtaking birds render you speechless - and soulless -> One thousand needles Test of endurance Grenka knowledge check (silence harpies)

-A graveyard is a place for souls to rest. Do not come rolling down the hills seeking revenge, lest you mean their inhabitants prematurely -> The southshore graveyard quest (Hillsbrad/rolling down the hills)

Drop your best alliance warnings!
