Bowel & Gut issues, sudden change in issues after 15 years.
Male 47. 19st 4lb. 6FT.
I had a gastric bypass in 2011, since then I've had permanent diarrhoea. I've always had other issues with my joints following 2 accidents in vehicles so I've been on opioid pain medication for the last 20 years. Every 6 hours I would take 1g paracetamol, 60mg codein, 100mg tramadol, 5mg zomorph. At night I also had oramorph. I could happily take all of those opiates and I still had diarrhoea, they never even slightly affected me.
Long story short I took the kick up the arse that was needed and I've lost half my bodyweight with the help of the bypass, because of this the pressure on my joints has been much better. I managed to quit the oramorph first, then I quit the zomorph around february, I managed to stop the cocodamol and just moved to paracetamol and now I'm tapering the tramadol. I've gone from 400mg a day to just 10mg a day, the 10mg stops the twitchyness and withdrawal symptoms and I hope to be off of that by the end of the week.
I am now more backed up than the M25 on a bank holiday Monday following a 9 lane closure.
I just don't get it, I'd got used to the new signals my body gave me when I'd had the runs for all those years and now I'm constipated and suffering with overflow diarrhoea. I permanently feel like I need to poo, every time I stand up or move my bowels start twitching and I have to go and strain only to pass another couple of tiny pebbles. I've tried stood softeners that the Dr prescribed me but all they seem to do is aggravate the overflow diarrhoea, all the laxatives seem to do is make it so that the overflow stuff is more aggressive coming out.
Honestly I'm so done with it, everything I do is preceded by the toilet. I can sit at my desk for a couple of hours, the doorbell will ring and I'll sort whatever and then I have to rush to the toilet, it's every time I do anything physical they start straining again and I'm exhausted with it!
thank you if you've read this far!
