Im new to NYC schools and have a 5th grader. Homework has been coming home with a check on it, but when I look at it after the teacher it’s not correct. is this something unique to the teacher or is it a nyc teaching policy not to mark homework correct or incorrec?

For those who wear cross bodies or belt bags or sling bags or fanny packs (ew I hate that name) I'm looking for one that's cute but also holds all my @#$ (key, phone, wallet, glasses) but won't break my back. What do you carry?
I work from home but we also like to go to events (plays, nice restaurants, etc) so I don't want to have to switch bags all the time.
If I carry a tote I fill it with too much and it gets overly heavy, plus I need free arms for my kid or pup.
Bonus if it's not so expensive and precious that I don't mind if it gets scuffed. I'd go up to about 400-500 but not looking for Temu

We were all set to move to Flushing (East) and deal fell through due to sellers not closing out BIS fines OATH penalties. Now we are cautious but noticed that certain streets have homes with multiple violations. What's the deal? Is it a nosy neighbor or certain areas? I'm coming from another neighborhood and have never seen anything like it.
