Ouch!

Happened during the week in Ballina, Co. Mayo.

Unsure if the handbrake was left off or the jeep was accidentally put in reverse.

New and apparently impregnable Irish Independent paywall.

The Indo has redesigned its website and introduced a paywall that seems insurmountable. They've also increased the number of articles that require a subscription.

Do you subscribe to the Independent and, if not, are you more likely to do so now after the changes? I'm no and no!

Galway West Bye Election - Galway Advertiser coverage

Galway Advertiser is covering this pretty well, with interesting comments. Here's the latest

"Former TD, Eamon O Cuív, and Senator Sean Kyne, are having a deep and meaningful, with Councillor Keane hovering behind, listening in. They’re discussing the Vote Left Transfer Left campaign, and whether Sinn Féin’s supporters may still be considered ‘left’ if their transfers elect an Independent Ireland candidate.

Plots within subplots are eddying around this vast, windowless room where – perhaps – the political direction of Galway West’s future may be determined by the 48,176 voters who visited the polls on Friday. More than half, did not."
